Thread: Clone Resist Formula Version 1.0
Been plugigng lots and lots of numbers since yesterday to see how well this formula works, and I'm happy to say that this seems to work rather well. There are some oddities which I will discuss at the end of the post.
I used this for ALL resists... the same formula. The listed category is the specific resist on the DNA sample you put in that slot. I.E. If you are calculating kinetic resistance then Physique would mean plug in the number for the kinetic resistance you put into the Physique slot of your template schematic.
Projected Resistance = 0.40 x Physique + 0.25 x (Prowess + Aggressive) + 0.05 x (Mental + Psychological)
For those of you who like it in %'s:
- Physique : 40%
- Prowess : 25%
- Mental : 5%
- Psychological : 5%
- Aggressive : 25%
Now for the oddities:
- Round down on the Projected Resistance (works around 90% of the time)
- Use -100 if the resist is Vulnerable (this needs ALOT of work still on this part)
- Nocuous Kamurith DNA (and similiar DNA with hidden resists) does NOT work for this formula
Ain't putting this forth as definitive, but I've had excellent results using this formula to plan the placement of my DNA samples to generate specific resist ratings.
Lemme know what your experience is with it... interested to know if I'm just being tricked by myself at how accurate this is.
Your numbers are real close to the numbers I currently use. My numbers cause me to be off by +/- 2 after experimentation.:
Phys: 44%
Prow: 22%
Ment: 6%
Psyc: 6%
Aggr: 22%
We do agree that Phys>Prow=Aggr>Ment=Psyc.
just for the truely stuipd could you describe how this would work? Say I have five sets of DNA all are AA.
1. 60% resist, 2. 60%resits, 3. 40% resits. 4. 35% and 5. 10% if I plug those in using the highest numbers where the restis are weighted most what would i get and how would i figure it out? lol is it obvious that I'm an English Major (apart from ya know the bad grammer and spelling) and not a math wiz?

Plug them in this way (this is one way to do it):
- Physique 60
- Prowess 60
- Mental 35
- Psychology 10
- Aggressiveness 40
You should come out with:
0.4 x 60 + 0.25 x 60 + 0.05 x 35 + 0.05 x 10 + 0.25 x 40
24 + 15 + 1.75 + 0.5 + 10
51.25... drop the .25.... your resist should be aorund 51 for that set up.
Keep in mind there are a few creatures out there that aren't reporting resists correctly. The Nocuous Kamurith is one of them... there are actually resists present in the sample you just can't see them until you experiment on Physique.

What have you found that drives this system wonky?
Kamuriths of all types have thrown a wrench into my formula no matter which type I use.... I think it is tied into the resists covering everything, though it doesn't happen with other critters like those. Sometimes the resist counts, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it is there but not visible (nocuous ones in particular).
