Does sampling use up Mind points for each race, or does it depend on each race's HAM?

Sampling uses Action and mind, the exact amounts depend on your secondary stats (Quickness and focus).

e.g. with 550 in Quickness it costs 80 action, and with 550 in focus it costs 80 mind, so total 160 floats off your head.

Race only matters in that some races can set these stats higher.

Is anyone else upset about the new pop messages during sampling? I used to AFK sample most of my resources as I find harvesters to be a pain to maintain. Why would They make macros an intergal part of the game then put in code that purposely breaks them? What is the point? Am I supposed to sit an stare at my character as he kneels down to sample for hours on end just to randomly hit the enter key? Is this supposed to enhance my game playing enjoyment? I don't understand this change.

well technically the macros were for stuff like combine /aim /attack or change out all your armor by setting up in toolbar or switch between weapons.

Harvester maintenance is one of the main money sinks in the game...its a way to get teh thousands of credits that are being brought into the game (through missions) out. Fighter does mission get money into economy, fighter pays you for goods, you pay harvester maintenace, money goes out of economy...

now it doesnt work to well but its still trying to even out.

now with that said I dont mind macro sampling I think its worth it to get those few extra k of materials for grinding when I a lone weaponsmith do not have the financial backing of a PA to place 3 Large harvesters and keep them maintained all I have are the 2 mediums I bought for a huge price and the little ones I can make myself.

Your macros will still work just shorten the duration to sample/heal 1/4th of your action bar...when your guys stands up and sits down, then stands up and samples again, the pop up box is ignored...so you only lose a little bit of macro sampling time.

yup listen to maxx

my new macro is as follows

/stand; /sample; /pause 360; /sit; /pause 120; /ui actionToolbarSlot15;

i shortened the pause times so incase a window comes up ..i am not sittting there for pause 1000. before i do a new round. seems to work good so far! oh and just change your toolbarslot number to whereever you keep your button.

Hi all,

I am pretty new to BE, just made novice a few daya ago and am 1111 right now. I was getting pretty bummed out playing the samping game, so I got a commando friend to come with me to dantoine (sp?) to get into trouble. I took bol missions, thinking that I could try to sample, they would agro and we could kill them and harvest the meat. I started to notice that I was almost never failing to get a successful sample. I was dropping these bols like flies. My friend go bored because I was killing almost all of the bols. This weirds me out becuase it takes me like 4-5 tries to get a sample from anything, even gnorts. I just noticed the same thing with moutain dewbacks on Tatooine. I'm getting over 200 (around 230, I think) sampling xp per one, and there are tons at each nest. I was if anyone else has found high-level creatures they succeed way to often with? It would be nice to know for all of us trying to grind up the sampling tree.

Thanks,

WolfGuy

I am new to the game and absolutely love it!

I have a question.... I am a Novice Artisan and have spent a large amount of time running around to find minerals/chemicals/etc. This takes forever. I find a spot that is say 70%. I'll sample a couple of times and then it says no samples found. I've noticed some of the macros shown here just stand, sample, pause, repeat.. My questions are:

1) If I keep sampling the same spot even though I received unable to find sample, will it eventually find some more samples? Or do I need to keep searching for a new waypoint with higher concentration?

2) What is considered a "good" density for different materials. I've found stuff at 40% and stuff at 70%. If I create a macro that samples, stands, repeats what % would a good place start at?

Thanks! I am totally hooked...

Sampling rate depends on your survey skill, with no skill you will get many "unable to finds" Once you get to survey 4, you rarely get nothing. I believe higher concentrations will get you more resouces per sample and less chance of getting nothing.

So if I keep getting "unable to find resource" should I move or keep surveying the same spot?

ok, im at work and i had a thought (not about work of course, lol). I think I have missed out on an opportunity to make life easier for myself. I was making mid level kimos for people last night and had some good results. Wanting to make more of them i went to dath to find some ubber spiders for ranged attack/armor dna. Got poisoned but got my dna samples, thank god for TKM disease heal.

Well im reading these post on the great combines and thought ....why didnt i sample the stuff i made before selling it? Am i the only one that didnt think of this before? Take a couple samples before selling...not too many for obvious reasons lol. then mix you uber creations to refine your masterpiece critter.

Just a thought...
