I did knock one of them down once....didn't help because I got killed later anyway.
Those things can hit up to over 1000....beyond my HAM bars.
If you have a pet to back you up, try throwing a Phecnacine Dart at it (basically stops the creature from moving forward), followed by a glow-wire trap. I've found these very useful. Just let you creature beat up on it while you hit it ranged (if you have ranged skills), or wait until its HAM is down to a reasonable level then see what you can do to it.
Note: I've never fought one of these things before so I have no idea if this strategy would work.
Intimidate is king against hard hitting creatures and NPCs. Intimidate2 comes with master brawler,cuts dmg by at least 50% and lasts for around 90 seconds. Survivability goes way up if you can stick intimidate on the mob and have a friend that can heal (or if you're a medic). I can solo high dmg/high HAM red consquicklywith master brawler and master medic to augment my pikeman skills. You can lead a fight off with intimidate2 at range, then move in with a knockdown, use berserk1 and wail on the mob...wait til berserk wears, heal if necessary, knockdown, berserk1, repeat until the mob dies. As long as you have enough points in willpower to keep your mind stat up, it's almost foolproof. Berserk does more damage at less pool cost than spamming specials due to the lack of a speed penalty, but if you don't have intimidate on the mob, it will beat on you pretty hard before you knock it down again.

traps wont work on them, i'm have trap master skill(ranger) and it just wont work on them
and even if traps work on them, you'd still die in 2 shots, buffed or not

no seriously i did manage to solo one but it was all thanks to warcry2, if you can stick it on a mob then they cant do anything for 20 seconds while i hammer on it as i please. so basicly it can be done even if your not a master pikeman but you do need master brawler and good medic skillsor a good medic or doctor friend.
FYI im only 3/1/1/2 on the pikeman tree and i only use a vibro lance. and on a side note they are not worth it for the XP, it took almost 10 mins to kill and ionly got 4435 from it but i did get 1880 scout XP and 360 hides from the harvest.
you can't trap level 60 and above creatures, as far as i know.
anyone know different?
I've soloed one before. I just spamed Polearm hit3 and stimpack C, lol.
Definatly not worth the Exp...
