Thread: Do BE's make any money at all?
Master Bio-Engineers can be very rich (well, at least I am
. The thing about Bio-Engineers is that they go from crappy to awesome when they get Master. You can sell great pet stims C and pet vitality packs and pets for great prices (tissues can bring in a good price if you don't undersell yourself). A master bio-engineer can experiment more and thus will make the better quailty pet stims/tissues. A master bio-engineer will also be able to get the very best DNA and thus will make the best pets.
Erais on Scylla
I make roughly 600k weekly without trying too hard.
During my ride to MBE, I at one point found myself with less than 2k in the bank, and having to take on missions to get enough money to ride the interplanetary shuttle. Getting to MBE is expensive.
Two weeks after making MBE, I had my first million.
Your friend should sell stim B's. If he makes quality ones, he can sell them for 3k on the bazaar. (He needs to team up with a master doctor to make the sub-components.) Making about 50k per day on the bazaar helps keep the wolves at bay.
I just don't find myself making anything..and I don't really try. I came for the clones.
Maybe hes underpricing, ive seen him sellign stimm A's for 300 and vit A's for 450, thats all he does atm
Is that bad or normal?
I agree, your friend is seriously underpricing himself. A lot of BEs use a formula something like this...
- stim power * number of charges / 10
- vitality power * anywhere from 30 to 50
So a 30/600 stim would be 600 * 30 / 10 or 1800 credits. A 60 vitality would be, on average, 60 * 40 or 2400 credits. Stim C's and D's could probably be charged up a bit, because of the difficulty and time involved in acquiring fish and Dath insect meat. The vitality materials, on the other hand, can all be harvested.
Your friend should also carry stims and vitality packs with him, and put five of each when he visits one of the busy or remote cities (Coronet, Theed, Dath Science Outpost, Nym's Stronhold). In the description, he should type in the location of his shop. If his shop has vendors, he should mention that stims purchased from his vendor are discounted 10% from the bazaar prices (i.e. either increase prices for the bazaar, or lower prices for the vendor).
Personally, I find tissues are where the money is. I charge 100 cr per bonus point for the highest stat. So a +4/+16 Tensile Resistance tissue would be 1600 credits * 25 for a crate, or 40,000 credits for the crate. BEs often charge in the 100-250 cr range per bonus point. I'm satisfied with 100. I charge 200 per for any tissue using eggs (the myoflex tissues), and 400 per for any tissue using mollusks or milk (the cover tissues and the tranquilizer tissues). Frankly, I'm having trouble keeping up with my two primary customers, two Master Tailors.
I've been playing since launch. I remember rejoicing when I broke 30K in my bank account. Three weeks after becoming Master Bio-Engineer, I just broke 1.2 million credits.
So yes, there's money to be made. I'm not really trying all that hard, as shown by my charging at the low end of the usual BE pricing schemes.
