Thread: Pet pricing system?
Guys your all selling yourselves short. Once apon a time we could make kimo's with nuna DNA - no sweat, no tears.
NOW if you want a powerfull pet you have to risk your butts sampling the biggest and baddest nasties out there (up to CL 75 of course). It's time consuming and its expensive for us, travel costs, cloning costs, 1% decay EVEN WHEN WE INSURE, it all costs money. No to mention the brain power that we have to exert to think up weird and wonderfull combo's. We all know that the cloning system is difficult to understand at the best of times.
THIS PROFESSION AIN'T EASY GUYS! Its just a hell of a lot of fun. Hehe
Back before the creature nerf CH's charged 1k per creature level. Okay fine.
You think it's fair to use that system now for OUR clones? HELL NO! It's no where near enough to charge for your creations. The CH's would only have to get in and out long enough to tame, not too different to getting ONE sample. We have to get more than ONE sample remember?
Hell if we have a request for a clone by a CH we have to sample from MULTIPLE nasites. 1k credits per CL just doesn't cut it anymore.
This is the pricing system that I use, its based on Health mostly, as this is predominently the mostimportant feature in a pet:
PET PRICE = 10 cr per 1hp + (if light armor) 5cr per 1hp + 150cr per % Kinetic resist + 100cr per % Energy resist + (Blinding/Stunning/Crippling Strike special) 2kcr + (Dizzy Strike, Medium Poison/Disease) 3kcr + (Knockdown, Strong Poison/Disease) 4kcr + (IF ranged) 5kcr.
Additions to price:
IF To Hit = 0.5-0.54 5k credits, IF 0.55-0.59 10k cr, IF 0.6+ 15k cr
IF Damage 400-499 5k cr, IF Damage 500-599 10k cr, IF Damage 600+ 15k cr
OK now for a Quick example:
CL35 Gurrcat:Pet Price:
10500 health105000 cr(Number ONE most important feature)
Light Armor + 52500 cr(AR1 will reduce dmg by 50% with wild missions)
60% Kinetic+ 9000 cr(By far the most important Resist)
40% Energy+ 4000 cr(Second most importand Resist)
SA1: Stunning Strike+ 2000 cr(Common special)
SA2: Strong Poison+ 4000 cr(Most sought after special along with Disease and KD)
Ranged: Yes + 5000cr(Everyone loves ranged pets - except maybe Riflemen)
TOTAL PRICE:= 181500 credits (This pet is very powerfull and well worth the money)
All Master CH's that I know are happy to pay this price, CL 35's are hard to make and are very powerfull, especially if you consider that a MCH can pull out 2 of these babies.
This is the pricing system that I use, it works well across the board, whether Non-CH, CL 35's or CL 60+, and I sell them easily and in quantity.
So don't sell yourselves short BE's your time and effort and the creations you make because of this are WORTH THE MONEY!
Good pricing system you have there RasoC. The one I'm using is similar but I think yours is actually better since I was having a difficult time adding HAM into the equation without having prices skyrocket.
i think that pet level is also important
a creature with cl35 that have almost same stats of a lv 70 is a lot better than the second one and also to keep the level down is probably the most difficult task of BE
I had to get rid of a pet that I made for myself a while ago since I dropped MCH. Its stats were aprox. 13k ham Light armor, %60 kinetic, and most of the other resists were %93, again this is aprox what its stats were. Well anyways I saw a MCH and asked if she was interested in the pet, it was a mounted Dewbacl btw. She asked to see it and offered me 20k for it. Hehe, I said well that alot lower than what I had in mind but since I can no longer use it sure why not. So she gave me 30k for it. She then began to tell me that she buy lvl 69-70 kimos for 40k?!?!?
Well all I know is whoever is selling those pets for that amount is underselling themselves. I have pets and pet stims on my vendor, they arent that cheap either. Its almost to the point were im looking at it and say, wow, thats alot. But if I dont the vendor is empty in a day.
Same thing goes for pet stims. We finally had a bone thrown our way with dath insect meat and my stim C's are hitting for over 1000 with more than 30 uses, (all master doc advanced components of course
) My first run I made I was selling them for 3k a piece 10k for a crate of 5, etc. Mt vendor was empty in a day. Well I just made my second run, made over 230 stims C's. I have them priced alot higher now. I guess I'll have to see how they sell.
What alot of people forget though is that some people have a high overhead. Im not a master doctor, so I either have to get the resources, or buy them from him. I dont have any lots, so I cant really throw harvesters down, so I am buying alot of the stuff...well actually everything but the Insect Meat. So I figure after everything, if I make a %30 profit. Im doing good. I made my money back plus some, so I can rinse and repeat. ![]()
1k per CL is fine for wild pets, and fine for a BE pet with similar stats. But wild ones sell for more if they are rare or special.
A pet at CL30-34 9-10k HAM with ar1 and 60% kinetic with good energy/heat/acid/ resists should be a bit more as that's a primo CH pair and usually takes a lot of dna and generational cloning. I've been charging 75K for those.
Similarly I might charge more if I had a pet at like a CL68 ~13k ham, 60 kinetic and real high heat/energy/acid/blast/electricity/stun resists.
my system
(CL *1000) + ham + (10k for armor ) + (10k for kenetic over 40%)
Here‘s an example
A cl33 jax with an 8.5k -9.3k ham (so I would say its 9k ham) armor, ranged attack, strong poison, and 33% kinetic resists
(33*1000) + 9000 + (10000) + (0) = 52k (thenI round up for the nice poison) 55k is the price i charge
If it has ranged attack, poison, KD I round up to the nearest 5k or down if it’s got bad resists or crappy specials. I do custom orders for the shape only witch is always kilmos or gurecks (so boring pick something cool!)
LOCOL,
My pricing is similar to yours:
1k per CL + 6k for light armor + 3k for range + 1k per % in Kinetic over 35% + 5k for strong poison + 3k for any other special + HAM rounded
So, based on your cl33 jax, I got:
33k + 6k + 3k + 0k + 5k + 3K + 9k = 56K
I also charge extra 100K if the pet is over CL60 and extra 50k over CL50 since getting mutants is a PAIN.
here's what I use
[(health + action + mind)/3] + (1k per 10% resist) + (5k light armor) + (highest damage x 10) + (***Difficulty Level x 1000)...then I add on the specials according to how I feel lol.
***the difficulty formula I use is 1000 x DL for anything under 30. 2000 x DL for anything between 31 and 55, and 3000 x DL for anything above 55.
Guys you're still selling yourselves short, your pets are too cheap for the effort that goes into making them.
If we are going to make up a pricing system for our clones we have to think about what is the most important feature about the clone....this is the Health of the pet. We think that light armor and good stats (especially kinetic) are importand also, AND THEY ARE, but you know why?? Because armor and stats SAVE THE PET'S HAM! Its very simple. Ham must come first and pull the highest portion of the final price, it only makes sense.
With the pricing system I posted above (not meant as law, only a guide), Loco's CL 33 Jax is worth 149950 credits, and you charge 55k??? OMG your totally underpricing. I sell these kinds of pets on my vendor with ease. That cl33 Jax is a powerfull pet, not only that, MCH's kill to get them because they make a perfect duo combo, and they are WILLING TO PAY for them.
CL10 pets with 2.5k ham 20% kinetic 10% energy, 2 basic specials (say stunning/blinding strike) would pull a 33.5k price tag with the system I use above, looking at this you can see that its certainly not unreasonable.
Not to mention the fact that Linoric's CL 16 clone would be worth 124k with the above system, YET he sold it for 370K on auction!!! This proves my point beautifully, these pets are worth what people are willing to pay for them!
It seems strange to me that we are willing to charge (and CH's are willing to pay) 100k+ for 1k heal pet stim C's, YET we aren't willing to charge 100k+ for the very pets they use them on? Pet Stims are a CONSUMABLE comodity, pets are not! Pets should be worth far more than the heals we throw away on them... this makes sense to me...
In conclusion: Charge what your pets are worth, your severly undercharged prices are only hurting yourself and all other BE's out there. Please try to be competative guys, all our time and effort is worth alot more than you think.
Thanks alot I have giving you credit in my guild on this pricing.
