Thread: BE Griefers

I hesitate to post this - give griefers too many ideas, but wonder if anyone else has been hit by this:

Was sampling a BMB on endor near a lair (BMBQ and BMB corpses strewn around - I was having a good sampling session). I'm 1.5k out from Smuggler's Outpost. (low traffic area).

Guy speeds past on swoop bike.

Sample target gets '?'

Guy comes back - shoots lair once, speeds off.

Scraped the aggroed BMB spawns (including the one I was sampling) off me, managed to get the SOB's name (he's now banned from all my guild's vendors). Unfortunately he wasn't guilded anddidn't respond to tells (this being 'May I ask you a question?' - had he replied I'd have asked him what suitable recompense for aggroing 4 level 55 mobs on someone would be........... I'm never rude when I'm REALLY pissed with someone).

Strong disease is a risk BE's have to live with - but not from some git out to give others grief.

Anyone else have this problem? If so, anyone got a good 'response'?

I fully aware any MMORPG has it's griefers - just trying to see any good tactics for dealing with them (I loved being a monk in EQ - feign death and watch those kill stealers die )

Edit: mavnis bacren taches typppgni....................

I've had other BEs try to horn in on my action when I find a "sweet spot" but never anything like that.

Me and my girl were on Endor last night doing a "meat run" and a guy zipped by us on his swoop while we were killing spiders. A raptor was by us,but of no concern to us. He circled us a few times then he went and aggroed the raptor and it jumped on us.

I got incapped rather quickly, but my pet got on it and my girls pet did the same. I BE'ed both our pets and they both can take a hit and my girl is near master rifle"woman." We ended up killing a 70k HAM creature with428 harvestedAWESOME meat!

So to my griefer...HAHAHAHAHAHA! We decided to stick around and kill 3 more raptors.

I was on Dathomir and found a bull rancor lair. I was happily sampling my bull rancors ( had gotten 2 samples in half an hour) when along comes a huge group of hunters that blow up the lair. While Im standing right there next to it. Really pissed me off.

Back when i had smuggler, a TKA decided he would tap a lair after i sampled the BMB and BMBQ to death. I had asked him to leave so i could keep sampling it by driving away and coming back to make it reset, but he would not leave. So when he tapped it i did feign death and watched the BMB and BMBQ make quick work of him. He made my night

In UO they are called noto PK's... I hate them... what is truely grief is when they try to agrro the baddy on you, you mask scent... In UO I would just hide and let the mobs chase the morons till they gone or dead...

Taken from http://starwarsgalaxies.station.sony.com/content.jsp?page=Policies%20Community%20Standards:

"6.You may not intentionally circumvent the player-versus-player combat features and cause another player to die, such as by "training" them.

Training is defined as pulling/leading a hostile NPC or creature along behind you and attempting to get it to attack another player who does not desire that engagement.

The intentional training of NPCs or Creatures will result in immediate disciplinary action when witnessed by a CSR. We are aware that accidents often happen causing unintentional trains, and will scrutinize each report of this activity closely."

LMAO!!!! if it were only true... UO had the same thing... all anyone got was a stern talking to... even people that were repeat offenders and did nothing but talk smack back to the CSR... I wish they had the balls to back up what they say...

OK - so it's not just me .

Actually Sony has a pretty good rep for disciplining griefers (at least they did in EQ) BUT:

"The intentional training of NPCs or Creatures will result in immediate disciplinary action when witnessed by a CSR."

There's the rub. The chances of a CSR being around when this happens are, well, not good.........

Unfortuantely it looks like the onlypay-back is "living well" and passing on the names to your friends and colleagues.

That said, this is the first out-and-out griefing I've been at the end of in 6 months of play, which isn't bad at all. Seen plenty of examples of pig-ignorant and rude play mind (mostly easily countered with '/addignore'). This is the first time someone tried to kill me with a game mechanic and heck - they failed (72% Kinetic Ubese is your friend!).

So like they almost say on Crimewatch:

"Don't have nightmares. These events are very rare and you are more likely to be murdered by the person sitting next to you than a total stranger."

Maybee the mission owner was in that group. Since the lair was named "bull rancor lair" it is a mission.

Never had any problems with griefers yet. Some iidiots shoting my durnis i was grinding on but thats no biggie.

yes I have had it a couple of times - but have also seen people go to inordinate amounts of trouble to go round me when they realise what they are about to do

It can be very annoying when a group go flying through your spawn - but its unavoidable as their radar is prob in limbo

There's always going to be some tension between CH/BE/hunters when it comes to lairs, since they all have a very different agenda. I can't say I've ever had any problems, but there are tons of times I come to a lair which has creatures I'd *really* love to sample being killed by hunters, but that's what hunters do, god bless em. So no biggie.

I did come across a BE on endor last week who was actually killing BMB's though. I couldn't help but shake my head when I saw that.

Well, well, well. That explains that.

It turns out the griefer was a "fellow" BE active on this forum (and a "veteran" at that).

This actually makes it much worse. It would indicate that his actions were quite deliberate to drive me off the lair. If hehadn't seen me the logical thing to do would be to retire and returnto get a'respawn'.Heck, if he'd asked I'd have happily given him the WPs of a bunch of lairs and left the lair to him (it was late and my inventory was full).

To name or not to name?

Not at this stage I think.

If you are reading this (and you sure as heck know who you are, Chilastra, Endor, last night - about 1am GMT) then I will accept an apology and forget the whole thing.

If not, well there's such a thing as Karma (sort of). Had a 'friend' in RL who habitually screwed over everyone he met eventually (he honestly couldn't see what was wrong with that - some people are like that). Nice chap, until you got to know him. Last I heard his wife had divorced him (after having the entire house contents removed) and he was living utterly alone. Being a total **edit** catches up with you eventually, one way or another..............
