I took off for a couple months to enjoy some time in Italy and when I came back there were no BE's. The holo grind took everyone I knew of any value from the BE proffesion but I know there has to be some left out there. Where there were once MANY stores with stocked BE supplies and quality pets of every flavor now there are only 3 vendorson Tat (my quiet home). I've been to the more populated planets and have not had much better luck. I know that there has to be some awesome master BE's around, butI'm just not looking in the right places. Are there still BE's out there that are pushing to make the perfectCL 70 best pet in the world mama jama? If anyone knows this great and mighty warrior of DNA assembly please post this person here. Let me too sing his or her praises as I empty my wallet into his or hers for some nifty keen mama jamas.

Clearly, you should include the Galaxy you're on in some shape or form
(EDIT: Or just read through the forums, as this is the place for scheming to create bad mama jamas lol)

I guess there are many reasons.
1. Boredom - some people just get bored after doing the same old stuff day in day out and want a change.
2. SP constraints - the main reason I dropped BE was because I needed the skill points for a better pvp/pve template.
3. Depressed market - on Chimaera there seems to be a big depression of tissue prices as well as a significant raise in meat prices. Quality carnivore meats are currently being bought for 45cpu (and this stufffalls off rancors atm) as well as +87BSNs being sold now at around 20-25k a crate(was 40-45k a crate a couple months ago).

The number of creature handlers has gone down quite a bit I believe as well.
There tend to be 2 different types of crafters. One that does it only for profit and another that really enjoys the aspects of the specific profession. You of course have a mix in there as well. BE isn't exactly the profession with the biggest profits. Good BEs do still make quite a bit, but I would guess most of the people that are around are ones that really enjoy the profession.
As mentioned before the skill point use is another issue. Especially now that vendors are fixed. You need 3 novice professions to be a successful BE and sell your own goods. No other profession needs 3.

My guess would be that many people in general were using the vendor "exploit." Getting enough artisan or merchant to have vendors then dropping the skill and using those points for combat or some other profession.
If you're just judging the number of BE's by the number of vendors that show up on your map you may be missing quite a few of them.

There are still some great BEs left. I don't plan on going anywhere anytime soon. It may not be the most glamorous profession, but I enjoy it. Keep looking, I guarantee there is more than a handful of dedicated cloners around you.

I know there are significantly fewer BE's on Starsider, and they pretty much all make suppliments. When I was going up through the BE ranks I had about 10 masters on my friends list who would help me out. Now, I only know of two masters personally (obviously, there are more, but I only know of two), and I know one person who is working on becoming a master.
I quit BE about 4-5 months ago, maybe longer, and I had been a Master BE since just after they made Kimogilas unsampleable out of the inventory (months before the BE revamp, before even the tissues in factories fix). People tell me I was one of the best on the server, though I find that just a smidge hard to believe, hehe, may be true who knows. *shrugs*
Anyway, as someone who was a dedicated and passionate BE since just after launch, and a master for many many months, I can tell you why -I- quit, and I suspect it is the reason many formerly dedicated BE's quit.
It was, for me, non-ch pets. That is where the problems with the current system show up the most, is in non-ch pets. Couple specifics on this: The fact that I could use the same DNA in the same slots with the same values twice in a row, experiment to the same level, and have one be cl 9 and the other cl 11, ticked me off (and frustrated me, obviously). The fact that if I used the system as it is designed, without using an exploit of any kind, just putting DNA into slots and experimenting, that I could create a pet with invalid stats, ticked me off.
It has been said that they will fix the CL system, but that has been said for many many months now, so I'll believe it when I see it. I miss BE a lot, but I can't bring myself to go through all that frustration again. Maybe after they fix the CL system I'll come back, I was hoping it would be this summer but no dice. *shrugs*
There you have my story, good luck finding your BE.

of the few that are left are:
sampling (aka, running for your life)
making tissues for far lower than what they're worth
or they're loser BE's who just make schematics for 25k
the ones that left are just bored and tired of making almost no money but putting in a ton of time to do it
pet making is very fun, but that's about the only "fun" part of BE...... if you want to make money, be prepared to work for it, or you're in the wrong profession

I agree completely with the cloning issues and the frustration level with validity checks that never work.
I don't really understand the money issue though. I mean yes, meat prices are insane but you don't HAVE to buy meat. If I buy meat its just as a supplement to round out a 20K stack. I have guild mates that are grinding combat xp for the farce called jedi so they bring me gobs of meat. They hunt the good stuff too not just the stuff that gives them the most xp.My job for the guild is to make money. I do my job very well I must say.

Spazzers. I don't follow what you're saying. If you are talking about making a profit on tissues for your guild, either you as a BE are adding substantial value to the market value of the meat by making them into tissues, or you are not. It seems to me that if you are, then buying the meat ought to be a very attractive option to you, whether or not you can get it from your guild. If you are not, then the guild is better off selling the meat directly to market and not bothering with your tissue making, correct?. Or am I missing something here?

Sorry to hear about all the troubles that the BE faces. I stopped playing for a while right when jedi was first introduced. I think the price of meat has gotten out of hand. I sell the best meats for 20cpu. I can get 25k in a couple of hours easily if it's on a decent enough creature. That's more money then I need but I have to charge something. It's the principalities involved. Anywho....If I happen upon one of the BE's who truly loves his/her profession I'm going to make sure he feels my love. I'm going to latch onto him/her like the cable guy. Shower him withgifts ofwhatever meat he/she needs, fluff his pillow before night night time, and take out the trash. Woe to the BE that does his/her job with pride and lets me catch him/her doing it. I'll not lose another BE to any of the abovelisted problems. BTW thanks for the good posts. I understand a bit better where my BE's went to. Have a nice day.

On the prices of meat - on Farstar the *current* spawn of Dathomir carnivore meat is going for 40cpu
And we missed out on all the early money duping.
