Thread: Some good news for a change?
(Mask Scent)
This, if it goes ahead, could help us tremendously while getting DNA.

master scout: +100 maskscent.
BioE clothing: +25 maskscent.
jawa beer: +16 maskscent.
I'm cruising around tatooine with nothing on radar. I get the 'a creature has detected you!' message. I stop, puzzled, and look around. 95 meters away, there is a kreetle.
I chuckle and remask. I walk right past the kreetle, and it aggros. a nearby kreetle decides to join the fight. I'm still cruising along with /peace on and no break in maskscent... and the tag-team of TWO KREETLES incaps me.
I don't think an extra +x to my maskscent is going to make this go away.

Kreetles are evil, even a master ranger can't camo their way past aa kreetle. For some reasons they can spot you far better than most high level creatures.

or even better, they let us craft them
They are loot drops and if anyone should be able to craft them, the Smugglers should because they are in dire need of ANY new content.

ONE theory/rumor, which really can't be proven from our side of the code, is that there is a rollover level of skills like maskscent.
the short explanation is: when your skill is TOO high, it actually begins to have a NEGATIVE modifier on the ability checks made against it. since kreetles are silly little aggro critters of no consequence, they have a low "to-detect" roll, vs a master scout + BioE + food, which has a high "no-detect" roll. normally, you'd expect this roll to fail on every check... or a capped effectiveness, with an automatic 5% (arbitrary number chosen because crafting crit fails are set at this level) failure in "no-detect", no matter what the roll would otherwise be. aggro range is SUPPOSED to be related to CL and ferocity... and kreetles have little of either.
a rollover effect would indicate some loose coding... something as simple as a 'divide by zero' could cause big problems... and if numbers are truncated when they're calculated, then a NEARLY zero number would make for failures.
personally, I think rollover is a myth... but when I get experimental data like '95m maskscent break from a kreetle', I've got plenty of time to wonder (while I lay on my back incap'd). as a noncombat ranger, I have plenty of opportunities to see some of the chinks in the maskscent log-cabin.
Theres also a poster loot for BE as well it seems. I missed that first time round.

I'm laughing so hard I have tears in my eyes. I think this sums up one of the biggest frustrations for BE's that there is.
How many kreetles does it take to equal one mutant rancor?

here's the problem with THAT:
on TC, we've found new loot on imperial and tusken raider targets. we've looted ONE black sun ace helmet (probably from a tier 4 Black Sun Fighter).
that's all good news.
the bad news?
we've looted ONE black sun ace helmet. serverwide, we've killed about 20,000 tier 4 black suns. tier 1/2's? another five digit killcount. tier 5's, fighters/etc and aces? a heap more.
we haven't looted a single skill-enhancer. we haven't seen any new loot kits. broken datapads are still broken. we haven't seen any new loot schematics (er... we've seen a console and a couch, and maybe a few other small additions).
so far, we've seen only a FRACTION of the loot that is detailed in 11.3. we've gotten the CTD's out of it (Crash To Desktop), and the vendors seem stable again (we generally lose ALL vendors and their inventory with new publishes). the devs may be pushing the code to Live on tuesday.
we're HOPING that 11.4 will have the rest of the loot that the devs have announced. the TC correspondent hasn't gotten a dev reply yet, so we're all wondering what 11.3 is supposed to include.
check out the TC forum 'catalog of new loot' to see what HAS been found.
