Well, since you very well know that sampling places you right next to the animal in question, and you also need to harvest meat, hide, bone, milk and eggs from these critters one needs to have the ability to either take the animals down to harvest from or at least defend yourself from them.

When i'm out collecting DNA I don't even equip my gun. If I get agro I simply hope back on my speeder and run. If I'm out hunting I'm not collecing DNA, if I'm collecting DNA, the last thing I want to do is kill the poor thing

I recommend Master Swordsman. It's much faster to kill things that aggro than to run away. I tried the "no combat skills" method for a while, but once you try a power hammer you'll never go back!

Yeah it's gotta be one of the close combat proffessions IMO.

TKA would probably be what I'd plump for.

Then you can turn around and spank those critters that get funny with you prodding their backsides for DNA samples

i have found that as a be, fighting isnt gonna be possible and live to tell about it. So my best compliment to BE is master ranger. Not only can you harvest more, but with the proper clothing and jawa beer added your mask scent will go thorugh the roof! not to mention the ability to track the animals in question you wish to sample.
as master ranger, i have no problems getting samples from mutant rancors or anything else. sure they will aggro me from time to time, but i can get with in 10m no problem 90% of the time.

Depends on your goals with BE. There are 4 aspects to BE, Chef Food, Tailor clothes, Pets and Pet stims. That would mean Chef ($$$), Tailor, Ranger /CHor Doc would work well with BE. If you are looking for combat, then maybe a crafting class isn't for you as being a master BE really nerfs what you can do. TKA is probably the easiest and biggest punch for the skill points for combat.

the problem ive found with being tka/be is that if you're sampling something with high kin resist (like melek harvesters) and then they go agro, even when buffed you run a risk of getting incapped by running your mind pool down to 0 doing specials. i dont think there isactually a perfect combat profession to compliment BE. i would just pick one that you like tbh and go with it.

As a TKM I can solo 3 merek harvestors with only my tkm buff and a shot of Brandy.

The trick is:

1. Dont buy uber VKs with high hams. Buy low ham VK. All you want is the AR1 piercing ability. I have a low ham set that was sliced for speed (1.9) so I can spam whatever special I want with no delay.

2. If you dont have a doctor buff dont sit there spamming unarmed 3. You're just going to incap yourself. Make good use out of intimidate (lowers damage they do to you), center of being, and unarmed 2 (not 3).

3. Make sure you got some stims pack Bs or Cs and a good set of Ubese armor.

4. Macros are your friend!!! Macro armor on and off to your keyboard and macro knockdown2 to your keyboard as well.

If the creature aggros you first hit kd2. If itsticks spam unarmed 3 till it gets up using your VKs. Once it gets up hit your armor macro, stim yourself, and then intimidate, center of being, and then spam unarmed 2. When your hams get low, clear your specials and just do a non-ham regular attack and stim yourself till you arehealed. Repeat KD..... You get the idea

TKM has to be the way to go if you want a good fighting class to go along with BE. Sure Swordsmen will drop a creature faster **but** you cant heal your own wounds and disease. You also get a free buff as a TKM **and** you can use "force of will** to get right back up if you get incapped.

If you know how to play TKM right it is the best profession to go with MBE for fighting purposes. The only things out of your reach is Krayts and NightSister Elders.

I have been getting pretty frustrated with Creature Handler so I have been thinking of a profession that would complement the Bio Engineer.

What do you guys use and what are your thoughts, Remember though, some of the high end mobs we sample from are high kin and armor so I was thinking of something like a melee class. Please share your thoughts. Thank you.

Not sure how being a good critter kiler will help your sampling. Care to clarify?

My best friend so far is not a combat skill at all. It's my speeder.

where do you get em from? i haven't seen any places that sell low HAM ones, most weaponsmiths only seem to focus on damage and speed.
