Thread: How's BE as an alternate?

Hi all. I decided to stop holo griding and my toon is currently master rifleman/doc 2442/artisan 0004. I want to drop artisan so I can master doc but I don't want to give up survey. I harvest my own resources and I have a small but profitable resource biz. I'd also like to do merch but I'm loving doc/rm too much.

So, I'm thinking about getting another account. He'll be artisan xxx4, and merch 34xx. I've been thinking about making him also either a chef or BE.

So I'm asking, how much work is a BE exactly? If I made a chef, I'll Id have to do is log on, move my harvs, make schematics, do factory runs, and maybe do some surveying. BE sounds like more work, is it?

Another question I have is, how much money can I make selling BE goods to chefs and tailors? Can I be nearly as stinking rich as an armor smith or weapons smith?

How much work a BE is depends on what you want to do. If you just want to do tailor tissues and chef additives then its not that bad. If you want to make good pets then there's a lot of work.

As far as how much money you can make working with chef additives, it all depends on your server, how many BE's there are and how many chefs need additives.

I did the same thing. Nedrub is my alt that does only crafting. I picked BE. Going up merchant too so I can advertise my wares on the map. My main is tka/rifleman and collecting all the resources. 20 lots too. Not bad.

To yall who laugh at me for having 2 accounts, it's ubercheap fun for my lifestyle.

Eek, just did some math.

63 for MBE
15 novice scout
15 novice medic
14 med crafting 4
28 hunting and exploration 4

135 total

I plan on spending about 75 points on artisan and march, which leaves me with 40 points left. That isn't even enough to defend myself really. So how easy is it to master BE w/o comabt?

You can buy the meat you need for the grind so you don't need a combat profession, just money.

Chef right now is pretty worthless without a good BE friend or an alt that is BE. You can do BE by itself though. The fact that you have a master doc, or soon to be, well help you make pet stims.

As to how much money, well if you work out a master BE/Chef combo in there, then weaponsmith type creds but not quite armorsmith type creds.

My BE character is an alt and I love it. It's a fun profession and to be quite honest it really saved SWG for me. I was in a real funk about the fact that smuggler is borked to hell when I decided to re roll my alt into a BE. One of the best things I've done in-game

I went BE mostly to complement my chef profession. Found BE to be pretty damn interesting and complicated as well (complicated in a sense that itz pretty different imo). Maybe when im done w/ my chef runs i can run around sampling things and making pets

My alt is a BE/Musician at the moment. She will drop Music as other professions are developed. She has zero combat skills and does just fine.

Go sampling on your speeder/swoop...

/dismount then sample.. (make sure you applied mask scent at a safe distance).. Then /target speederbike and zoom off if they aggro.

My main char is a master rifleman. He collects the meat/hides for her.

Soon, Evyl will finish mastering scout and go on and become a ranger. I want to be able to design a pet and then go in search of specific species. I don't want to have to rely on travelling all over creation and hope to run into a spawn.

Between meand my g/f, we have:

Master Weaponsmith

Master Tailor

Master Architect

Armorsmith (nearing master)

Chef (low level novice in training)

Medic/and some CM

and my BE-in training.

Of all of these professions, weaponsmith is the most time-consuming when it comes to surveying and collecting so many types of materials. Chef appears to be second in line due to the special requirements for advanced stuff.

My Medic/CM doesnt use advanced stims, I dont want to have to scour the galaxy for the ubber stuff. My 440-480 Stim D's do just fine and are much cheaper and easier for me to craft in bulk. (I dont sell medic supplies).

Architect simply needs TONS of stuff.. but not a lot of different types of specialty stuff (compared to weaponsmith).

Armorsmiths - lots of hides and bones.. other stuff is not too bad to get.

My BE looks like she will require the fewest number of specialty resources for crafting tissues. Milk seems to be the resource toughest to get in large quantities, but milking faamas yield quite a lot and not bad cash doing the missions.

The only problem I have with my BE "alt" is that the profession is so engaging that I end up frequently spending more time on that character.

I originally started a character to master BE and Doc so that my guild would have a source of meds and pet supplies. I now spend roughly equal time between my BE/Doc and my Smuggler/whateverIhappentobegrinding. As far as the combat issue, by the time I am done, I think I will have doc(not mastered yet), be, and scout 4040. No combat skill at all, so I group for meat and solo for DNA.

"That isn't even enough to defend myself really. So how easy is it to master BE w/o comabt?"

I did it wirhout trouble - I doed a total of 3 times doing DNA sampling (95% of it on Endor). I did get incapped a number of times. The trick is to make sure you sample near a yellow MOB - then if the creature you are sampling agros you run through that MOB and 99.9% of the time the creature will stop attacking you.

I also did it before brandy and without doctor buffs and no mount or bike (not sure why I didn't think of using a mount or a bike to get away).

No Sig for now... stay tuned
