I've been a master BE for a while now, and one of my biggest sellers on my vendors is Non CH pets. I had to go away for a couple of days due to computer problems, and when I came back my vendor was empty. So, time to fill up on more DNA.
I got enough samples to make 18 templates before I got bored, I figured that would be good for the time being, I need to catch up on other things like my tissues as well. So I go and make some pets.
10 pets later 8 of them are CL 14 and 2 are CL 15.
I did the same thing I always do, stuck them in the same slots, expirimented on mental once and physique once. I've only used AA and HQ DNA, not VHQ and it just didn't work.
The HAM is in the 4800/5800/4800 range for the 14's and they all do 80-90 damage.
Am I just having a REALLY bad day or is it time to find a new receipe?
I'm on Starsider, by the way.

New recipe needed.
I raised this here a week or two back - it seems some people thought I meant VD/VD/HP/HP/HP *coughs* which sort of works, but is not comparable to the old (pre-stealth nerf patch 9) VD/VD/HP/HP/VD recipe.
I've tried various CL10 recipes since then, but they're not very good and have all but given up making CL10 'tanks'.
The VD/VD/HP/HP/HP recipe gives very unbalanced stats - I may get motivated to play with it and try something different next week...

I never really was going for tanks it was just a reliable receipe for me at the time. Ah well. Back to the drawing board.

I just made up a batch of VD-VD-NS-NS-NS, and out of about ten, I had one that came out 11, and I resampled it down to 9. They usually came out 5-6k health, 3kish action, and 1.5kish mind, 70-75 damage, and cripple/mild poison specials. About 3-4 had ranged attack.
To get the specials, I used AA or HQ VD DNA in the health spot, the HQ or VHQ in the action spot (just didn't want to put the VHQ in the health spot). For the NS DNA, I used VHQ in the agression slot, and in the mind slot if possible. Just experiment the health out to 22-25% (25% is pushing it, that gave me the single 11). They should come out with 14 kinetic and blast resists too.
NS is nightspider.

im using the old recipe just that im resampling it again which means that all my pets are 2nd generations *sigh* - which usually means I end up with about 4 pets from 30 samples, which is frustrating. Im yet to try night spider, will give it a go later.

I've been doing VD VD HP HP HP (qualities do not matter). 1 point into physique and I've gotten CL 10 19 times out of 20 (the 1 other was a CL 11)

Instead of using the VD/VD/HP/HP/HP version of the recipe. Try switching the positions. I use VD/HP/HP/VD/HP and come out with a Fort of 102. With the VD/VD/HP/HP/HP I come out with a fort of 143 which explains why you are going over lvl 10.
The version I use continues to produce a decent lvl 9 pet.

Had the same problem with the VD-VD-HP-HP-HP recently. So I thought I went to the Gronda-Gronda-Hp-HP-HP. They were lvl 10, but not as good as the previous one. Today I went over to Naboo and sampled NS's. Took them back to Dant. and added them to My VD samples. Just finished making 11 of these. Got a couple of failures during experimentation and over compensated. Ended up with lvl 11 on 2 of them. So out of 11 pets, I got 9 lvl 10's. All very similar to Suenr above.

Thank you for all of the replies. I went out again and got a few samples to test my luck and this time I got my usual results: mostly 10's with a couple of 11's. I was more concerned about the jump from 10/11 to 14/15.
Ah well, one of those days. If it happens again I'll just not make non CH pets for a while.
I think I'll check out some of these other receipes as well. Thanks for the advice!

I posed the same basic question after the last mini patch when my VD/VD/HP/HP/HP recipe (2/phys;1/ment) recipe yielded CL11 more often than not. I got a few interesting replies and the most reliable other recipe was to only use one dasher rather than two. Initially this got me a few CL9s with stats close to the previous CL10s but a few days later I started getting 10s again.
Someone also suggested getting crappy tools to use to make them so that your results weren't as good but I haven't tried that yet.

Heyas All,
I appreciate all the good info I read here. So maybe this time I can be of a bit of assistance. I use the VD/HP/HP/VD/HP recipe. I put 1 point in prowess and I max out the physique. Any quality of DNA can be used. The key I've seen is to make sure the Hardiness does not exceed 299 which seems to rarely happen if all the DNA is unusually high. In my experience this will almost always give you a level 10 creature. It has been my mainstay and seems to sell well.
