I keep seeing people trying to sample enraged rancors. These creatures are level 80 and unless the devs give us a way to buff our sampling abilities we can not sample them.

I think the highest level sample able rancor is the mutant rancor at CL 75. next down is the bull rancor at 65 and then Night sister rancor 55, Rancor 50, knarled rancor 45 and rancor youth.

Now correct me if i am incorrect, all other rancors are not sample able, that includes enraged, enraged bull, ancient bull and any others i may have missed.

I'm a little rusty but the majority of them work out like this:

Enraged Rancor CL80

Mutant Rancor CL75

Rancor CL50

Rancor Bull CL60

Rancor young CL40

... anything else from the enraged Rancor upwards cannot be sampled.

I saidFROM the Enraged Rancor upwards. meaning that from CL80 and higher we cannot. However I sussect that you can sample from CL80 but it's exceptionally difficult since you can get around a 1/4 chance with CL75 so it might be around 1/8 for CL80 but thats so rare it seems impossible.

It's been awhile since I dropped BE, but my tactic for getting DNA harvests was to go on Muon Gold, which gave you a terrific mind buff. I was able to get about 3-4 samples from regular rancors and 2-3 samples from bull rancors. I'm not sure if this tactic is now widly used, but it wasn't when I was around.

If the devs have relaxed on some of the sample limits, you may be able to nab some DNA from the big guys!

BTW, sampling ability is tied in directly with mind secondary stats. If you go to a master musician and get a 100% secondary mind buff, you'll be able to sample bigger critters!

Are you sure about that? I don't recall anyone mentioning that before.

I am a master BE and i have sampled engraged and ancient with mask scent/camof stat clothes. Without these clothes there was no way i could get within 60 meters of them without being detected

the question is are you getting samples or are you standing there just trying to get samples.

another day here and I still have yet to get a sample from even a muntant rancor. I never heard it tied to mind but then again I keep reading people getting samples from muntains and I can't. Getting to them is no problem really. Sample 20 times before they even go agro sometimes.

i have gotten mutant before hardest thing is that mask keeps breaking like glass and i am using master ranger mask.

Just read the part about sampling being tied to mind substats. My Mind & substats are 1100/900/1000. On mutants, i seem to have a 50/50 chance at getting samples. although have had 6-7 fails in a row, have also done 5 or 6 success on them in a row also.

Yeah my mind stats are maxed as well but I still get around 1/3 chance of success with the mutants. I guess downing some grey gabraki would be an easy way to find out if there is really any benefit here but somehow i think this is just a wild rumor without any actual substance.
