Thread: Anyone Else Seriously Concerned About Rare Babies?

The latest CH update will include the addition of rare babies so that CH can control extremely powerful creatures if they are fortunate enough to find them. If it isn't possible for master BE to make creatures better than these then once again BE will be trash in the long run. Devs please don't let people find creatures better than we can make. I am all for making it difficult for us to make something better than wild versions but it needs to be possible for a master BEwho works hardto exceed anything found in nature.

I am not concerned at all about those. I am hopeful the new BE creatures we don't know about and the experimentation of the ones we do know about will make us at least competitive, without all the running around and camping spots that the babies will require.

I dont think the BE primary role is Creature cloning.. CH are left to the profession of dealing exclusively with creatures and pets. If they Find those rare pets and tame them fine. its not like they will be all over the place. BE have many other things to keep them going..

This shouldn't be a problem. BE's will be able to make some creatures that CH's can't find in the wild, and CH's will be able to find some creatures in the wild that we can't make (probably the ultra-rare pets...if we could make them they wouldn't be ultra-rare). My guess is that what people opt for will really depend on the specials that a pet has, especially since CH's will be able to order pets when to use them.

I'm kind of excited to see this coming and curious as to how it will all play out.

This is a perfect example of why we need a Correspondent (and would also lend weight to one who is a MBE/MCH).

When I first read the dev post about rare babies, the same red flag went off. Consider our situation before the removal of the AR2 pets. While not necessarily 'rare', the kliknik queens and archanae webmaster and etc... were THE pet to get. The only thing that blocked a flooding of the market on these was the game was still relatively new and a small percentage of CH's actually understood how incredible these pets were. We at least still had the AR2 Gurreck to sell, and it sold WELL! But still paled in comparison to many other options because of the CL50 rating.

Now shift gears to our current situation... the Graul Mauler is THE pet. There are a handful of PvP pets because the GM isn't the choice of champions for attacking thinking players. Graul Maulers and Bile Drenched Quenkars (etc) could be considered 'rare'. Adventure planet spawns... not terribly common.. usually have to clear a nest to get them to spawn at all... what do we sell on the high end for pets right now?

But what is 'rare'? Are Holocrons 'rare'? If this is the dev's idea of rare, then they should reconsider as its fairly easy to find a Holocron if you have 2M. The only reason they're 2M is they're 1 use items. Pets aren't. If the 'good' rare pets enter the game as fast as Holocrons, without a strong competing product from *US*, then we're just going to have the GM/BDQ situation all over again.

Keep in mind we have zero clue what our pets are going to be like... so this is all speculation and i won't attribute more than credibility to it than saying "Yes, I've got my concerns".

It's not the rares that concern me so much as the nonCH mounts that are being introduced. I was hoping that we would have at least one secured creature market, but it's just not to be. We have to compete with the CH's at every turn. I don't understand the reasoning behind this. We should be able to make something that cannot be tamed, not just make things in addition to what can be tamed. A new market appears and mother nature shifts. What is the point of slicing and dicing genetics if nature already provides everything a person could want?

I'm not really worried about it. As screwy as our cloning process and choice schematics currently are, still I am able to sell everything I make. It's not hidden knowledge by now, with a couple exceptions, that wild babies of various species are better than what we can make in about any level bracket... but pets still sell. If the cloning line is being revamped and made better along with the new idea of rare babies being implemented, we should have no worries of lack of business. The only players you wouldn't attract would be hardcore CH's who spend their weeks wandering from planet to planet for that one rare perfect pet... the type of person who most likely would not buy from a BE anyway .

As an MCH, do you all mind if I express my opinions on this?

I am *hoping* you all will be able to make creatures with equivalent CL/Abilities. My desire is for these rares to be unique in appearance and (maybe) the combination of specials/stats. I also expect them to be rare...very rare, and few between.

Most CHs will still go to BEs for their pets, as a good BE pet beats the hell out of the wild equivalent (my Rancor is BEed, it has 12k HAMs and does 660-680 damage...far superior to a wild one). I expect, one the experimentation I have read about goes in, BE pets will be highly sought after....I know I will be looking for a good BE when those changes go in.

So, consider this MCH a future client....and current supporter...hang in there, we need you

they always have .... what makes anyone think they will stop now .... even our "uber rancors/gurreks" only have a max 10%ish ham improvement ... they do not do any more damage in sustained battle as the speedgoes up incramentally with the damage =ing the exact same dps.The only slight benefit of a BE pet is in PvP (which according to the matrics released is a whopping 2-3%), where a 700-800damage BE rancor will allow the combination of a MCH/pet to effectively 1 shot incap some players(you know .. the ones with no armor and crappy stratagies). I love creating creatures, but i can see it will be another year at best before the system has settled down enough for us to be able to do anything substantial with them ... do not lie all of your hopes in the "cloning fix". Face it with the reality that we will get screw'd.

How is he wrong? I assume you mean the previous poster, and while I myself became a BE for the cloning line, the fact is, BE is not a one-trick pony crafting profession. There have been many BE's who becaome one not for cloning but for the tissues.

As to the original post. It really depends when these ch changes go in and just how rare these high level creatures are. TH has said the changeswill not go in soon. If we can make CL 50-60 creatures regularly as opposed to some rare spawn, I'd say we will have a clear advantage.
