Go to the Action Screen (Ctl A)

Click on Macro tab

Click on New Macro Button

In top field ... put name of your macro ... "Sampling"

Click on an icon for this macro to have

In the text field at the botton, type ....

/stand;

/sample;

/pause 1200;

/sit;

/pause 180;

Repeat that section as many times as you want ... 1200 is the same as 20 min ... so you are sampling for 20 min ... sit and rest for 3 ... stand ... then continue sampling.

I have mine repeated for 8 hours of sampling (the above section listed 24 times)

Before you run this ... make sure you Survey something with the survey tool so it knows what to sample when you start the macro.

Do you have to type the ";"too?

hmm I have a question. Maybe I'm doing it wrong but my sample macro looks like this. It takes about 232-237 of my action bar to sample.

/kneel;

/sample;

/pause 300;

/sit;

/pause 140;

Ok what this does is sample for 300 sec, sit for 140 sec then resample. this works out pretty well with the amout of Action Ham I have. My question is there any benifit to doing the sample for 20min? It seems to me after the 5 min or 300 secondsI would just stand up for lack of Action ham. Thanks for clearing it up for me

From experimenting with macros, it seems like you're always working two things that are kind of a trade off. If you make the first pause long enough, you'll just sample until you run out of HAM points, which will maximize your amount of sampling. The longer you make the puase though, the longer it will actually take you to do all your sampling, which risks the server going down or you losing your connection or some such. If you make the pause shorter, you'll stop sampling sooner, and not squeeze the last drop of sampling out of your macro, but you'll run through it faster. If you tend to lose your connection a lot, this is the better way to go. You'll need to play around with it a while until you find the "sweet spot" for your HAM bars, and connection.

One thing I've been wondering though, is nobody ever moves when they macro sample. If I go attended sampling, after about 45 minutes, I get no more successfule samples. Even when I find a 70% area or better, it seems I can burn it up in an hour. How do you guys sample the same spot all night?

/sample; /pause 275; /sit; /pause 190; /stand; /say Line 1 Done;

Macro is built into the game and should be used as a tool to help yourself when you can.

IF you did the macro he suggested:

/sample; /pause 275; /sit; /pause 190; /stand; /say Line 1 Done;

Then, yes it will end when you get to the part where it makes you say "Line 1 Done"... That's the last statement in the macro.

If you want it to loop a few times expand your macro to something like:

/sample; /pause 275; /sit; /pause 190; /stand; /pause 12; /sample; /pause 275; /sit; /pause 190; /stand;

and so on... get the idea?

You'll need to adjust the pauses by playing around with it and seeing what setting lets you get to nearly no action points left, then sit, then see how long you need to sit before you're full and stand up to start over.
