Otherwise it wouldn't be so hard to make a good CL 10 pet. Let's face it. It is not worth the effort.

Funny you mention it...I made a CL10 pet with 90-100 dmage, strong poison, knockdown, a ranged attack...but it only had 300 HAM.

sure it is. I sell a lot more CL10 pets than anything else. It does take time and patience to make them right, but thats the difference between benig a decent BE and a great one.

Don't push the HAM too high ~100 for hard, dex, and int scores. Don't exp in aggression. Start with DNA that has moderate scores in fort, phys, and wis. If your secondary stats scores are too high the modifier they put on exp will push your primaries too high with just one or two exp points used.

Okay thanks! I will try that procedure. So far when you consider what it takes to make a decent CL 10 pet, I (and other BEs I've discussed this with), have been of the opinion that a CL 10 costs more to make than a CL 20. Thus, you should charge more for it, but perhaps we have been approaching this incorrectly.

It take the same time to sample from a high level critter as it does from a low level one. So really the lower the CL, the harder it is to make. Making a CL50ish anything is simple enough, but getting it down to CL30 and still be worthwhile is difficult. So value should be inversely proportional to CL level.

non CH pets aren't ment to do battle. They are either mounts or just for show.

right now im trying many experiments, my first one is going to be two bolle DNA in the first two slots, then ikopi DNA on the other 3, if that dosnt work, ill put some weaker stuff in the other 3 and so on. so far my closest was a Cl 11 forgot the stats though. altough i know why it was CL 11 (amazing success at creation)

I think the most difficult thing about CL10 pets is setting the expectation. I have seen many, many of Buboopadoo's CL10 pets. I am not a BE, so I don't know how much work Bub puts into one, but I know he has been getting better at making them lately (which means he has a better handle on the DNA needed and where to experiment and what expectations to set). When he first made Red, my gurrcat, he thought it was on the stinky side of CL10. Since then we have revised our opinion to think that he is pretty darn good.

Red-Skelton, Gurrcat. CL10 1500,3200,760 HAMs 30% Kinetic 31% Energy, 30-40 damage, Strong Poison Special 1, no special 2, no ranged.

Buboo's recent creations have been along the following lines if I remember correctly

CL10 1500-1700 balanced HAM (all three bars about the same) 3-18 Kinetic, ~140 damage with Medium Poison,Ranged attack and 1 or 2 specials (maybe stun or medium poison).

You half right, non-ch pets are not supposed to be very combat effective. Essentially what you'll find is that a raw newbie and a non-ch pet have around about the same kind of overall effectiveness, so its like taking a new player out hunting with you. Given at how a pet draws aggro though even though it'll only be able to suffer maybe6 hits from your typical starting planet mid-level mob that is still enough time for the player to kill the target.

Remember that all of the way through beta there was never anything like a non-ch pet other than the probot, the concept simply wasn't intended under the old system and was added pretty much on a whim.

I have yet to give it a good try, So far I have a excellent recipe for a 60-62CL beast with ar1 60% kinetic with excellent resists and specials.

I havea recipethats a 2nd gen for a CL30-33 ar1 57% kinetic 9-10k health, good resists to all but blast and cold, strong poison and stun attacks.

As soon as I kick out a few more CL30-33 pairs I'm going to go after CL10's and see how well I can do on just kinetic special protections and health, and try to see where the new limits are and what can be done. It's definately a harder job than the CL 30's.

I played with it just a bit with spare DNA so far and have achieved a fewCL11-14 with over 30% kinetic special protection, but ham only around 6-800 and some wide spread vulnerabilities, an NPC would drop it in a shot or two. Definately going to take a few generations to get it tweaked to fit under 10 if it's even possible.

Evenif I can get thereI doubt I'd sell one until we see the next publish and what limits are,I usually just tell customers I don't make non CH pets for now. Can't meet their expectations, get a price worth the effort, or know if what you make will get nerfed, so it's kinda pointless.

I think you are exactly correct. I believe non-CH players are NOT suppose to have pets... at least fighting pets. Non-CH are likely only allowed to have pets as a novelty, not a fighting companion.

ko from what I have found I can make non-ch pets with health/action rangn from 2000 to 2300 but I have to sacrifice in agression( attack power) and in mental (mind, intelligence)

for specifics I have been followig a pater on teh DNA template and have gotten petty consistant results. my favorite creature for tehis DNA are male kaadu. no resists. 2100 HAM and no agressive. find thema lot north of theed on naboo. on the template max hardiness (health)should only get to 120 I could probably push it to 130 and have higher health but at a cost of attack power and mind. same for dextrity ( action). dont experiment on agression at all only minimal on mental 1 time on prowess will ususally cause teh DEX to shoot up to 118 .

another strategy I need to try is substituting some trash DNA into agression, and mybe psych. attack would be low. but it leaves room for a slightly higher health and action, maybe even mind

Used Rancor Youth for KD and Shear Mite Spider Queen for Poison/Ranged

lots of resamples, intro of Young Fliers and Injured Kwi ( andding lower CL DNA is a mistake as I have come to realize ).
