Thread: Artisan Missions: Make it happen!
Hey, today in my PA's Board the idea came up that there could be special Artisan Missions. With these, a greater variety of Missions were available, and a deeper Gaming Experienceas far asthe player's contribution to the cause of either the Rebellion or theEmpire could be created.
Some ideas:
A Weaponsmith has to craft an amount of a certain Weapon with certain requirements (such as max dmg, speed or such) and can deliver these to an NPC to gain money and/or faction points. To improve the program's ability to recognize the weapons that the player wants to deliver, he would be given a special container; the NPC then checks all items within this container and the missions is a success if they match the demands. The demands are a function of the skill the Crafter has, so he has to make spraysticks only if he can do so and the spraysticks have properties that are a function of his technique level so that he is also able to make them.
The same is possible for Armorsmiths, Droid Engineers, Architects and so on. In effect these professions would be enriched and the overall demand for these professions' would be risen so that less power-grinding would be necessary. Remark for balancing issues: No itemsMAY be demanded that can be crafted without experimentation as soon as the player has technique1 in his skill tree.
Next Idea: Survey/ Mining missions. The Artisan is given a waypoint on a distant planet (could also be the one he is on, btw) where he has to start surveying for a special resource that is generated only during this mission's length. Maybe he is also given a special survey tool for that purpose. From the waypoint on he can survey up to a 'sweet spot', which is the only one in the resource's area worthsampling for an amount of 100 or so. This sweet spot might be guarded by an installation of the/ an enemy faction or something like this, so that the artisan might even need fighter support (to make these missions really something special, let the sweet spot be guarded by heavy Fighters so that really a group of Players is required to make this kind of mission). The ressource must then be mined or sampled. Maybe these 'sampling missions' can offer a tighter gaming experience if in firing range of this sweet spot new enemies are spawned while the artisan is sampling - so that he must be protected by his fellow players.
Third Idea: Harvesting Missions. A Chef or a Scout or someone has to harvest something from a lair or so... Not really new after today's patch, and not yet thought unto the end...
That was it. Would like you to refine this idea and then propose it to the Devs. I think itwould be an enrichement to the game.Make it happen!
I've done artisan missions. Just talk to people Rebel, Imperials, whatever out in the wilderness and you might get some artisan missions. I get them more times than not.
Yes soon there will be a terminal so you don't even have to look.
