I had a survey mission on Rori to find Solid Petro. There were no solid petro listings in my Chemical survey tool, just the inert and liquid. Will it only appear on certain areas of the planet?

Yup, this is how it works =) Survey missions appear to be random, just like resources. In this case, the resource that you received the mission for does not exist on the planet you are on. It is wise to check with your survey tool to make sure that the missions you accept are immediately accomplishable on the planet you are on.

You can abort the mission in your datapad, or keep it until Solid Petrochemical appears (could take over a week or longer).
