Thread: Your opinion on power source and size of harvesters?
I have not yet started using fusion generators. I will soon. Solar and Wind cost exactly the same, but solar produces twice as much. So that is a no-brainer. Go solar. I will report as soon as I know about the cost on fusions.

I can speak to the question of power.
Efficant, hands down is Fusion for raw extrating, however the time you need to put into finding the resource may be too steap for many people.
Wind is the most abundant and accesable due to the low overhead to produce.
there are a few things you need to consider though. The first is the potental energy patch going in soon. It will make a radioactive up to twice as efficant a power supply should the potental rateing be over 500. When this is in radioactives will take fewer deposits over time to keep the machines running.
The second thing to consider is your number of lots. Do you want to take up lots with power generators? Early on, maybe you will have room to spare as your busness grows, but later on you might not want to have 4 wind gen. but opt for 2 solar. It's all dynamic.
The last thing you need to consider is hwo you want to spend your time playing swg. If you opt for fusion you not only have to save a substantial amount of cast to invest but you will need to litterally scower planets for hours on end to find a power souce that you find approprate only to have to do it again a few days later when the shifts take place. Some folks don't mind this, I personally find it a full time job. You pile that time onto keeping your other equipment up to spec and you soon find your days filled with running from point to point and little time for other activities. If the prospect of this is not appealing to you then I would suggest finding a good power dealer to take on that process unless you really are dead set upon providing you own power. Just know it takes a investmetn in time to do anything above solar and wind.
To avoid the hastel check the open market to find a seller that you like. The norm is 3 cr/unit but I will sell radioactives for 2k for 3k power if I have a good source that week. Prices will change as potental energy modifiers go in as 2k of a very high quality/potental rad will be more valuable than 5k mediocer wind.
If you want to be self sufficant for a small operation go wind.
If you are consuming med amounts of energy with a bunch of factories go solar.
If you want lots of power and have time to scout and run to remote areas daily/weekly go fusion.
If you want to maximize production as a crafter buy your energy.
I_Banzai, can you point us to a thread or any info on the power changes you are talking about? I've not heard anything about this.

Power changes as in power shifts or potental energy rateings?
Both can be found in the artisan forum but I'll dig up the threads I've seen them in if ya like.
My bad, it's on the architect forum:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=architect&message.id=17167
Read about 4 posts down starting with Mocras. This was the first mention I heard, I beleve more details are in the test server or development page but god knows how far down any thread might be on those forums.
Thanks for the replies, any comments on which size harvester? Use a mineral extractor as a base for now.
Renzer,
here is the offical word on test

Go large as soon as possible.
The time it takes to save from the smallest to the largest is insignificant over the life time of the harvester. You will make back the few days you lost in production within 2 weeks and then have the bonus intake going forward.
That's just my oppinion though. If you want to get cracking right away do what you can afford gradually.
