Thread: New modified survey event proof survey macro!
Put a weight( Duracell battery in my case) on the enter key, then the survey will automatically be cancel any survey event that pops up. and u can safely sleep at night and let the macro run all night![]()
Who on earth surveys for xp? Last time I looked, it was about surveying a thousand units an hour instead of a day, and letting that run overnight.
It's about getting rich, or at least well prepared for grinding, not about levelling your survey abilities.
I dont know what macro you guys are using, but i can let my computer sit with my character sampling resources for as long as i want. Those messages do pop up, but it doesnt matter. My character keeps chuggin along. I suggest using this macro:
/sample; /pause 4; /sit; /pause 28; /stand; /ui action toolbarSlot12
Just put this in the slot benearth the F1 button. Do a survey for your mineral of choice, then hit the new macro button you have created. This will start the whole sequence. It just loops over and over and over and over. The only way to get it to stop is to change to a different toolbar. So... to stop the macro, push something like ctrl-F6 to get to toolbar 6 which should be a blank toolbar.
This is the macro I use, and is tailored to my character's action regen rate. This regen time is specified in the /pause 28 line. This is also the time it takes for the sample action to reset itself. My character samples, then regens his action to full in just under 28 seconds. I am a Mon Calomari Weaponsmith BTW.
So... try this out. See if it works for you guys. It may need tweaking dependant upon your race, but it should still work for you.

Actually, if you knew how pointless Survey XP was, then you would realise that your entire "blahblahblahnoxpearnforme" agrument is incredibly ignorant.
we macro-mine because the extractor system is incredibly bloated and broken.
But if u try out my method (duracell battery), you will find out its more efficient, there is no need to random pause every 28 secs, therefore the entire suveryevent isignore and the effecieny of survey remain un-nerf. this trick work even better if you are rodian (850 stam=infinite survey).
btw in case i forget to metion at my first post you need to put your regular macro first then put the duracell battery on.
The harvester system has gotten better, such that I wouldn't call it "bloated" any longer, but perhaps a bit "heavy".
The issue is a matter of investment and risk. Yes, I can extract resources for less than 1cpu and sell them for 2.5cpu. Infact, I do just that. But so long as macro-sampling exists, as a businessman, I find it imperative to take advantage of its efficiency, and worry about competing with those who take even greateradvantage. Why? MONEY!
I have to pay credits into a harvester to get a return. There is a lag time in turn around between when I make that investment and when I get credits for selling the resources. During that time, it's always possible that my harvesters will have a melfunction, be it a bug or the fact that I ran out of power or pleanty of other possibilities. Harvesters have gotten more reliable. But compare this to macro-sampling, which is completely FREE in terms ofcredits and essentially RISK FREE as well. There's no investment, there's no cost, there's no turn around time, and aside from an occasional unexpected attack, there's fewer unknowns involved.
Survey events were a good idea, but need to be tweeked in two ways. The first and most important, CLOSE THE MACRO-SAMPLING LOOPHOLE NOW! The second, make survey events actually pay off! As it currently stands, a survey event causes you to skip a sampling phase. Then not only is the pay off usually only twice in size (meaning a zero sum for a sampling that takes two cycles), but sometimes you even FAIL! I'm quickly comming to the conclusion that survey events are more a psychological trick than any actual payoff. Which is wrong. If someone is going to actually take the time to pay attention while sampling, then survey events shouldn't be a zero sum game!

P.S. CLOSE THE MACRO-SAMPLING LOOPHOLE NOW!

great post, the only thing is, is that survey events pay off pretty well for me.
I'm a horrible surveyer(2-3 units per successful sample, < 50% sample sucess rate) and I get about 20units when i find a 'high concentration' from a survey event..
in order for harvesters to pay off to artisans, they need to close this macro loophole so that real players make money. why dont they make it that whenever you use your surveyer to scan, u gain exp that way too? they way ppl could macro that, and gain the exp they might want or need, but allow gathering resources to be a manual job or a harvester job only.
Actually you can stop any macro with the /dump command.
It will purge any paused commands.
