Thread: Marketplaces vs. Vendors

One thing before I forget. Artisans have GOT to have a better way to sell their goods. I'm sure that all who craft will agree with me that selling things is often a matter of chance. It took me a long time to find a crafter to build the factory I wanted and it's rather hard to find the best quality or priced objects. Please, please fix this. Vendors need to link with the bazaars so that people can see what's out there, they just have to go a bit further to pick it up. Also, I think that those of the merchant profession (at the very least) should have the option to open and maintain a market stall in a city. Right now, cities are big, bare and used as a staging ground for assaults, a quick run to auction things off or search the bazaar, mission assignments and healing of both kinds. Only the proliferation of NPC characters keep them from feeling like a ghost town. All right, so maybe we can't buy houses there, but at least let us sell our goods where they are bound to be noticed by people passing through the cities on their way to meet their mission contact.

I interpert the developers "vision" to be:

1. Player cities is where this will happen
2. Vendors/Merchant class is not working as intended and will get significant attention

I really like the split between vendor and bazaar. Although, I havn't been able to find a buyer for a single factory or med harvester (Viz on Sunrunner if your interested) I'm very happy to wait for them to finish these parts of the game before I clamor for changes.

Maybe it's not such a good idea. Some cities are so laggy they're barely playable for me, even on a DSL connection. Adding merchant stalls would make it even worse. A case in point is Moenia. It's ridiculous, everytime Ihead out of the starport there my frame rate just drop to horrible levels. Only after I get out of the city can my character move with any semblance of ease.

I'm all for merchants having a way of connecting their shop to the Bazaar though. THAT will help tremendously. With all the uncertainty surrounding the merchant vendor fees, I've delayed putting one up, and have to sell things currently in the Bazaar or through word of mouth.

Devs have hinted that they would like to improve the way that vendors and the bazaar work together, but those improvements may be a while in coming. In the meantime you can find some merchants on the world map. Those who have Advertising 3 in the Merchant profession are able to show where their vendors are on the world map.
