What are some of your thoughts on space ship construction?
Me, I want to see two advanced crafting professions. One would craft the actual ships, and only the ship and it's engine (thruster and hyperdrive). The other would craft only the weapons and shields for the ships (all of the illegal upgrades). And the weapons crafting profession couldget repeat business from proton torpedo use while the ship crafter would get repeat business from selling engine upgrades and replacment parts.

Not counting the four new profs, I agree that the current crafter profs will get...im sorry...SHOULD get schematics and newabilities for 'ship-crafting'...But I believe the majority of 'tweaks', 'tricks', and other nefarious paraphaneliashould be given to the SMUGGs (they use every trick in their book to stay alive)...maybe the ROBOTEERS (astromechs that will actually...err
...fix/maintain ships)...

seea good idea is to take the advanced professions. Have them make the actual parts......(specialized by crafter...much like the individual parts of a car).
On top of this...make the Master Artisan the requirement to put hese parts together (in as sense, much like a mechanic can repair, and put pieces togehter, but unless they're specialized inspecific parts, they can't just make new ones from scratch, even thoug hthey might be able to modify.)
As master artisans...we can't just build from scratch, we would require parts that we have as well as parts other people have made.

I first bought this gamewithtthe intentionbecoming a crafter and being able to start building ships as soon as I could after the space expansion came out. Therefore, my main character is a Master Artisan and is basically waiting around for the ship crafting profession to come around.
I've been putting a lot of thought into how the Devs might go about creating the expansion and here is how I see it working...
I'd like to see only one class added to the artisan tree: shipwright
Other than assembling them, a shipwright would be the only one capable of doing complex repairs and modifications to ships. (all pilots would be able tomake minor repairs and modifications)
The other craftingprofessions would be able to create all sorts of components (some required, some optional)for the ships.
Weaponsmiths: weapons
Armorsmiths: armor, shields
Architects: walls, furniture
Droid Engineers: computers, repair droids
Tailors: cloth for carpets, curtains, etc (actually I'd like to see this for the houses we currently have too)
Chefs: making/programming food dispensers
Artisans: simple components along the lines of what we already make

I think that building a ship will be a huge community involvement. from the guy who makes the hulls to the guy who makes the weapons to the guy who makes the thing move. I would like to see a completely customisable ship. I buy a ship but purchase weapon upgrades, (weaponsmith), shild upgrades, (armorsmith), repair systems and targeting(DE), Ship Hull manufacture/repair (ummmm shipsmith? lol). I would love to see something along the line's of this.
