Thread: I... I'm so lost...
Payno attention tothis heathen! Welcome to the Artistan profession.
Well, he has some points, but being an artistan is only as boring as you chose. If you grind and only look at how to advance into some of the specialized professions, then yes. Major Boredom. But there's still plenty of fun to be had.
First thing, read the crafting guide under Manuals on this website. It is excellent, and will teach you much about crafting.
Start by getting some more professions. I have some scout and marksman skills besides artistan, and I found it to be very helpful, especially if you want to hunt for bone, hide and meat for your crafting. Also, you need high weapons skill to get high-paying artistan missions. And you WILL need missions to make money.
Now, go surveying. Start by looking for some copper to use for making more survey tools and specialized crafting tools. Open your mineral survey tool and try surveying for the different kinds of copper. Pick the one that is found in the highest concentration. See the waypoint that popped up? Run to that and hit survey again. Repeat untill you have found a decent % (60 or higher). Now press sample. You will now begin to collect samples of copper.
When you have a 100 units or so, open your generic crafting tool. Choose a chemical survey device. Load up all the copper (just double-click untill all the slots are filled). Assemble and presto, your first crafted item. Now use the new tool to get some chems.
Basically, just use your datapad to look through all the schematics you have. Pick the things you would like to make and see what resources you need.
Also, take hunting or destroy missions to earn money and marksman xp. Harvest the creatures you kill for scouting xp and use the resources to make food or clothing, thus earning general crafting xp. Remember that you can craft while you survey.
You won't be able to sell much of the early stuff you make, but try talking to newbies, and offer to outfit the for a small price, or just to build a good customer relationship. The business and people part of crafting is really the most fun (despite the occasional troublesome or annoying customer).
Last, go visit www.swgcraft.com. This page is a must for every crafter.
Well there you go. Now get out those tools and get working.
Well...if you like boredom, welcome aboard.
Here is what you do. Survey...and survey...and survey...and survey...and survey...and survey. Get my point yet? Meanwhile, you craft...and craft...and craft...and craft...and craft. Sooner or later, you'll want to choose an elite profession tocraft "cooler" stuff. Then it's the same cycle again. Realistically, you do a lot of work just to MAYBE build something you will be proud of someday. There's a reason why there are lots of Artisans and very few Weaponsmiths and Droid Engineers. And there's a reason there are tons of Bounty Hunters and Pistoleers. Artisan is a very dull and hard class to get anywhere in. Many people give up on it. And only us few nutcases actually enjoy being an Artisan. Something about making Droids that need like 20,000 resources and several components to make that turns people like me on and most other people off. ![]()
