Thread: Resource shifts.. Couple of questions
I was wondering.. When a "resource shift" happens, how "big" is this shift?
Does every type of resource on every planet change?
Does only each planet shift at a time?
Do individual resource shift at times while other may stay?
Basicly, when i find out that one of my harvestor has gone dry, is it time to check all of them? (on diff planets etc...)
From what I have seen, you have one BIG shift evey 7-9 days and some mini-shifts inside those times. When a big shift hits things move around and resources will appear and dissappear for up to 3 days then settle down.
In that calm time you will have smaller shifts as well with some things disappearing and some appearing.
Last night I had a shift happen WHILEI was surveying. I was looking for ore and one survey it was there, the next it wasn't. I thought I locked up my survey tool so I logged out and back in and bang, a shift had happened.
I never let harvesters go more than 3 days between inspections just to be safe.
I've been keeping close track of the resources (minerals, flora, chemical, gas, and water) on my planet (Talus) since the mini-shifts start, and I've found that a resource will shift in, stick around for a minimum of 7 days, and shift out. The upper limit is a bit more complicated... here's a list for the 72 resources that have come and gone since I started keeping track:
7 days: 12
8 days: 19
9 days: 12
10 days: 12
11 days: 6
12 days: 3
13 days: 1
14 days: 3
15 days: 1
20 days: 1
23 days: 2
Interesting note: All of the resources that stayed for 13 days or more are Flora. No mineral has been around for more than 11 days.
And a comment on what someone said about significant shifts every X days with mini-shifts in between... I think that may be a temporary effect of the start of this shifting scheme. In a few weeks, it will probably have balanced itself out so that a couple of resources come and go every day.
I seem to remember conversation when shifting was introduced and they said that heavily mined items will go away faster. Maybe thats why you are seeing flora stick around longer. There just arent as many people pulling Flora as minerals and chemicals.
And Leana_Txorna, no. The only way you can know when something shifted is to see it on your survey tool. Or watch your server forums. I don't know about yours, but Chilastra's crafters post when things move and when new things are reported.
It would be NICE for harvesters to send you an email saying they cannot mine xxx because it is no longer there but they dont. /rude devs
