Thread: How do you survey?
go to www.swgcraft.com
they list materials reported by players as well as the material stats, sorted by planet and server. I've found it very accurate and useful. Materials are rated on a star system. one star for each rating number over 900. Very easy to find the good stuff and how long it has been out there.
travel to planet of said resource
use survey tool
find resource
click survey
hop on speeder
when highest conc waypoint is reached, run speeder macro
got to next high waypoint
rinse and repeat till you find the highest concentration
I survey just fine, thanks... but as for your other question about finding high percentages, best you can do is get surveying IV and look for yourself. Nobody would everspend the time making you maps.It would take too long.
I have often wished for overlays on the planetary map... maybe something that would automaticallyrecord any surveyed areas for a given resource in relation to the planetary map, and reset/disappear when the resource is depleted. A density overlay, if you will. You'd still need to go out and surveyfor it, to fill upyouroverlay. It would provide a reference to tell you where you have looked, to help you decide where to look next. The disappearance of an overlay would alert you to a depleted resource. This would be useful because you could get an overall picture of where the 'vein' of resourceyou weresurveying was heading, letyou know when resourcesyou're harvesting deplete, etc...
It could become a commodity if you could trade your survey overlay. Make it an object for your datapad or inventory that adds the overlay to the planetary map as long as it is carried... and make the object disappear when the resource depletes. I'm sure there would be people out there who would make their living compiling overlays to besold to other players...
And it need not be only resources. How about an overlay that shows real time population density on the planet you are on, so you can easily find or avoid large numbers of other players... how about one that shows structure density. How about one that records the positions of all buildings within a player city, so you can distribute maps of the city to prospective customers...
I think I've just envisioned a new class of objects for artisans to make... dearie me!
Oh well, idle wishing gets one nothing.
