So why is it that Architects get to make sculptures and statues? And let's not forget the PAINTINGS from Bestine Museum. I mean, what the f____ is up with that? In Real Life, I consider myself to be something of an artist and I'm willing to bet all my intestinal organs that I'm a better painter than 75% or more of all architects in existence, yet I know nothing about designing buildings.

And I know this is a game not designed to mimic RL, but PLEASE make some painting schematics available to the Artisan profession. Even if they are small.

Maybe in the future have a new elite profession called Artist. I know I'd play that, as it would be fun. Skill tree would be something like "Painting," "Weaving," "Sculpting," and "Techniques." And then a Master Artist skill would be to be able to create custom designs for paintings or signs, through the use of a basic graphic creation interface (ala Paint (but better))which would produce a one time use schematic (non-factoriable). If the schematic contained "offensive" language it would be rejected...

Anyway, just throwing in my $.02 here...

Anybody else think something like this would be cool?

artisan

\Ar"ti*san\ (?; 277), n. [F. artisan, fr. L. artitus skilled in arts, fr. ars, artis, art: cf. It. artigiano. See Art, n.] 1. One who professes and practices some liberal art; an artist. [Obs.]

2. One trained to manual dexterity in some mechanic art or trade; and handicraftsman; a mechanic.

This is willingly submitted to by the artisan, who can . . . compensate his additional toil and fatigue. --Hume.

Syn: Artificer; artist.

Usage: Artisan, Artist, Artificer. An artist is one who is skilled in some one of the fine arts; an artisan is one who exercises any mechanical employment. A portrait painter is an artist; a sign painter is an artisan, although he may have the taste and skill of an artist. The occupation of the former requires a fine taste and delicate manipulation; that of the latter demands only an ordinary degree of contrivance and imitative power. An artificer is one who requires power of contrivance and adaptation in the exercise of his profession. The word suggest neither the idea of mechanical conformity to rule which attaches to the term artisan, nor the ideas of refinement and of peculiar skill which belong to the term artist.

Basically:

1. Artisans are not Artists.
2. Artisans can be Artistic.
3. Artisans = Mechanical, Rough.
4. Artists = Delicate, Refined.

So artisans should be able to craft paintings, signs, and/or advertisements? Because they "can be artisitc"?

I am just making the point that all artisans are not artists, and all artists are not artisans.

They are related, but seperate entities.
