I bought a ber10 mineral harvester and found a nice 89% steel location... but i cant place the harvester in that spot... how do I know where I am permitted to drop it? I've tried driving all over the place - thousands of meters away from coronet, but i cant find anywhere that permits me to drop it (let alone with a spot that actually has iron on it)

What amI to do?

It is not unusual to survey for an hour or two for a good spot that you can actually place a deed on.

Keep in mind to stay well away from any city (1000m at least i think). The "Buliding is not permitted here" message will let you know if you are too close to a city.

You will also need a spot that has reasonably flat terrain. You will get to the "place deed interface", but will not find any "green spots" if the terrain is not right.

Yeah, nothing worse than to find that 95% spot in the no build zone and have it drop off to 15% before you're in a buildable zone.

Also, if it says something like 'can't do that in your current condition' it means you need to stand absolutely still for a couple of seconds and try again.

Yes, same. Tap stand before placing usually fixes this too. Also when trying to place an extractor remember that you can rotate it by right clicking!

LOL i never take time placing harvesters i just pay people to place them on flat ground and put me on admin, i just harvest what ecer is a good rescource %age

Also keep in mind that if there are Creature Lairs around they will also prevent you from placing your Harvester. (Yellow Zone) Just go take out the lairs in the area and it will widen your zone for Harvester placement
