Sorry for asking a question that has most likely been asked a billion times before (n00b syndrome). I’m at the point where I can choose Driod Engineer or Architect, in the opinions of the folks here on the board I want to know which one ya’ll might prefer and why.

I’ve got 3 or 4 in business. So I am thinking of Arch because of being able to build better gathering tools and a vendor shop. I know nextto nothing about Droids, other than the R2 helper unit we start with.

If this is a sore subject and will start a flame war between Droid Engineers and Architects I hope the moderator will delete this post. I’m not looking for trouble just opinions from folks.

It's not a sore subject. Pretty much everyone loves, and has sympathy for, our long suffering DE's.

No Master profession is without it's ups and downs. Architect has driven me nearly insane on a couple of occasions.

Largely, it depends on what you want to do. I 've dabbled in all of the Master Crafting classes, and each one has it's own flavor.

It all depends on what you want to make and where you want to go, how much time you want to invest in it, and how much you enjoy what you make. Architect drives me nuts from time to time, but I don't think I'd be happy playing anything else.

If you want good fast cash with minimal effort, just stick with artisan and just haul out resources.

choosing which profession you go with may be either a matter of taste and to the needs of whichever PA you decide to join.

i found DE to be boring for some reason so i played with weaponsmith, armorsmith and chef. weapons seem to make me happiest for some unknown reason, just a matter of personal style.

If i had wanted to go architect it wouldn't have made much sense in my guild on ahazi because there are already 3 other archysin the guild. i would be competing with them alot more than i do in a guild with only one other weaponsmithand hedoesn't sell in the guild malls.

if you do decide to look at droid engineeringthere are a variety of different types of droids to be made not just for storage (druids are a different matter entirely :smileywink you should check in on the DE forums buti would say the majority of my income as a DE was with surgical droids. there should be a guide there to help you level should you decide to go that way. the same i believe is true on all the crafting forums.

good luck

Not really what I am sure I looking for in the game (still in my first month). I just know I am less combat oriented than a lot of folks seem to be.

One of the things I have found out is that the manual for the game sucks if you want to go beyond just the basic info needed to play the game (the manual would be as thick as War & Peace if it covered everything) which is why I come here to look for info.

I work nights (in the USA) so the character I play the most is on one of the European servers. Found a lot of good people playing there that help out folks who are just starting out… So I have been helping people out in turn (karma thing). I was toying around with trying to figure out how to start a PA/Guild with some folks I have been talking to so I was thinking that being able to actually build the houses/town stuff/production facilities and such for a guild might be the way to go.

Basically all I know about druids is that they can store stuff and some of them can be used to heal you up.

DE's will be busy when JTL releases.

You can buy a droid separately to help manage some of your ship functions. In fact, droids are required to do some of the things that you used to be able to do in the previous space combat sims. You'll have to teach your droid how to monkey around with ship settings first but once they've learned you can order them to shift power from one system to another, giving you greater weapons effectiveness at the cost of engine speed, for instance. Though the franchise continuity doesn't allow for droid slots in TIE Fighters, the team is allowing droids to help out in those ships as well.

Hi, thought I would throw in my two penneth.

I was in a similar position not long ago, and decided to go the Droid Engineer route. My decision was based entirely upon the fact that it meant I could make my own Artoo and Threepio units.

I soon discovered however, that the life of a DE is nothign if not complicated! You really need to get to Master as soon as possible to be able to compete with the other DE's on the server you are on (Chimaera has some very good DE's, obviously not as good as me /wink). With Architect you can start crafting items which are usable very early on and make a good living out of it.

I was fortunate to find myself a good PA/Guild who liked having a DE on there team, and were able to provide resources and customers whilst I was getting myself set up.

All that aside, you need to get Merchant skills as well. Having at least 2 Vendors is a really big bonus for me, as it being able to brand your Vendor on the map.

Finally, not long after I joined our PA, we had a budding Architect join, and I have to say we have worked really well together. He has been excellent in providing Factories and Harvs for me to get the resources I need, and in turn, he needed Combat droids, storage droids, and crafting droids which I have been building for him in return.

So, essentially, it is up to you. I love being a DE, I love building droids, and seeing what I can make them do. However, I still see the need to have gone Architect, and am grateful to have found one in the guild. Not sure who would make the most money, I suspect Architect, from the Harvesters alone selling very well, but there is nothing like watching someone go tear up some Stormies with a brand new Combat R3 unit.

Hope this is some help.

Well, I like arch a lot. I like to make furniture to decorate with. That's just my personal preference though. I think you should read the stickies in the arch and de forums before you make up your mind about which you'd enjoy more.

Both professions have their pros and cons I'd say. I've novice Architect so I can make some useful items as well as one required item for Droid Engineer. I'd say go with both for a time, you should have enough skill points to really do this though the resource demand of Architect may take some time to work around. As a Droid Engineer myselfthough you probably wont have much of a market for anything you make before master. Sure there are some things the youngerDE's make that can sell. Alternativey Architect items from the offset are really quite useful and certainly in demand. With novice architect I made myself a factory and some crafting stations ... really very useful stuff.

If only the answer to this question was an easy one.

For the last 7 months I have been jumping around between professions, Not holo grinding but looking for one I really Enjoy, Something I can stick with and get good at.

I don't like to just kill stuff all the time, also sitting around in Coronet buffing for hours seems so boring. I've decided that crafting is one of the things that I enjoy doing, now I just have to choose the crafting profession.

I just made it to Master Architect but already its seeming boring. Its more of a competition of who can pull the most resources out of the ground than who can get the best. Also the quick and easy grind makes me feel like I haven't achieved anything by getting to master.

The only other crafting professions I have mastered are BE and chef.

BE was a good profession, huge amounts of products I could make and most of them would sell. I droped BE though, not sure why.

Next I'm off to try either DE or AS, not sure I will get on well with AS though.
