Thread: Wound Chance Powerup--useless?

I understand the basics of how wound chance works. For every shot, there is a percent chance that it will wound the target. If a powerup has wound chance as one of its stats, it increases this percentage, making it a bit more likely the target will be wounded.

I want to know if a wound chance powerup is useless. If your fighting a creature or NPC, wounds aren't going to kill it. If you're fighting PvP, it will take a LOT of shots to make accumulated wounds be of any significance, and that's even after the 75% PvP reduction. Is this just a powerup stat that no one uses, or am I wrong somewhere?

I think the description "About as useful as a soup sandwich" pretty much fits the bill.

i used to wonder about this as well.

i mean it probably has some hidden secret that we're not using. Maybe if you use it against someone who has full composite on? you might get lucky and wound him so bad on one of his secondaries.....what happens when a secondary is taken below 0? anyone know?

I don't think there is any benefit in PVE at all.

For PVP, I guess having a slightly higher chance to inflict wounds on your opponent might be a plus. However, there are other powerup stats that are much more useful so having a powerup with wound wastes a slot for a better stat.

I used to stock one but discontinued it in favor of a Precision Scope of Targeting (min/speed, renamed "PvP Scope") that sells decently.

That depends, when I am hunting Jedi with my friends I love my Dxr-6b which has like 53% wounds, if I can crank that up to 80% or more I would love it. Anything to make the Jedi's lives more annoying.

Secondaries don't go below 1. Ever.

Check it for yourself, get buffed, put on a full composite armour suit (if you can't already wear one unbuffed, of course), and then check when the buff runs out. You'll have extra modifiers left because of the armour.

Same thing look at poison and disease. Disease doesn't even take away buffed stats, only original stats.

Getting something below 1 seems to be totally impossible. But I'll see if I can test it with a master swordsman (they have a nice mind wound hit)

Mad.

Wounds are bleeds that tick for -1 that make the target agro you (in PVE). So frankly, wounds are the LEAST desirable thing, especially to say, riflemen using conceal shot. It has no use whatsoever, and even if I get my experimenting to give it say, max dmg 33%, min dmg 16%, speed 8%, and wound 1%, I'll dump it. Simple as that, NO wound stats go into my powerups.

honestly i don't know. everyone says it has "no use whatsoever" , but there have been many times when the general populous said that about something that suddenly becomes all the rage.

i seriously think there has to be something about it that could actually sway a battle somehow.....hmmmmmmm

I've run tests with my guild's base defenders. DXR-6bs with wound heavy scope components and wound powerups bringing the wound to a DXR-6b to 93%. Results were strange.

We duelled, I used the rifle. Everytime I hit him with headshot3 his mind based secondaries took big hits. I'm talking like 30-40 wounds. Now, when you're talking about an extended base attack/defense, being able to stack on mind based wounds like that is an effective way to control the situation, as you have to get that taken care of via an entertainer. Plus, BF is a direct function of wound application, so he accrued BF fast as well.

However, anytime a secondary pool got wounded over 100, he took REVERSE wounds. That is, "You have sustained -38 wounds!". It was consistent - drop below 100, and normal rates, above 100, he effectively gets healed. It's almost like they don't want player wounds to be that high save by a fire attack. Or it's a bug.

If not for this oddity I'd say that it has a very good purpose for an extended combat. As it stands, not really, though BF stacking isn't that bad a way to control a base attack situation.

so effectively as a tactic you could run around mind wounding people like a nut, and when they start hitting the negatives (healing) you move on to the next target........OR you hit a different pool and wound that. im pretty sure the wind will get knocked out of someone when they're secondarys for health are a zip and they're cloning over and over ........

If anything it would be nice if they made bleeds stick or tick harder. Like my mindshot 1 and 2 would be cool if it ticked harder than it does now with high wounds....
