I posted this idea on the BH forums to get their reaction to the idea. Since this concept effects Artisans as well, I will repost it here.

To the BH community -
Confession time. First off, I am not a BH. I'm actually a really marginal combatant, I tend to spend more time crafting. That having been said, I am an avid reader of these forums, and guild leader to a number of BHs, and like all of us I have been watching the Jedi oriented changes with great interest. And I had an idea I thought might appeal to some of you, though I am not sure if I am able to see all ends of the effects of this suggestion. So I thought I would throw it up and check out the reaction from you all.
One of the main points of concern with the planned increase in the number of Jedi is that BHs will be depended upon to keep them in check. The reality, at least thus far, is that a lone BH isn't really on even footing with a lone Jedi (I suppose that point is up for debate, but I will continue on that assumption). The problem with making a BH powerful enough to contend with Jedi would be that BHs would then be as imbalanced vs. other professions as Jedi currently are. I sense a lot of reservations from Devs and other combat professions on the idea of making BHs that powerful.
So the suggestion from a crafter to your community: BH-Only Armor Powerups to increase armor effectiveness versus lightsaber damage. Good ones. Have them craftable at Master Artisan, and they would provide good (50%? more?) protection against lightsaber damage on top of whatever other defenses the armor already provides. Any armor powered up in such a way would be unequipable by non-BHs.
Armor powerups seem to be an idea that was ditched during beta. There are entries for armor powerups in the bazaar, as well as vendors, but there are no schematics available for Artisans to craft them. This suggests to me that the logic for such powerups exists in the game. As I see it, these powerups would make BH no more powerful than they currently are against other players, but considerably more of a threat to the Jedi that they hunt. And hey, Artisans would have a new product to sell by the crate.
I look forward to your input. If I overlooked some simple point that would make this a bad idea, I'm sorry in advance. As I understand the issues this makes sense, but I do not pretend to have a command of the issues that affect all BHs.
