You should be able to use any of the available fuels:
Solar
Wind
Fusion (Radioactive)
Anyone else second this?

Yep, any of the fuel types will power any of the harvestors, best thing for a new artisan is to get a wind power harvestor as soon as you can afford it,then you'll be able to power whatever other harvestors you want.

Yes you need wind, solar or radioactive power to fuel one's buildings. Wind and Solar power come from their respective harvesters, radioactive power comes from mineral harvesters or fusion reactors (but since mineral harvesters also use power I prefer not to use them to get radioactives). A good way to get started is to just buy power off the bazaar, it should show up under resources, just don't be tricked into thinking things like "liquid petrochem fuel type #" and "solid petrochem fuel type #" power harvesters because they do not, they are used for power cells and other crafting items not for powering one's buildings (other than houses of course since houses only require maintenance). Also you may want touse all yourlots on harvesting structures and houses rather than power stations depending on how you like to play.

And if you can afford it sometime down the road, a fusion generator is nice to have because the energy is more efficient (lasts longer) than solar and wind power.
