I would check the listing of what resources are needed for what and decide on which you want to hunt more of. Armor tends (IMO) have more of a repeat business and so on. A good piece of Composite can net you anywhere from 20-80K, and you need 9 pieces to cover your entire body. Weapons, on the other hand, have a bit easier time finding the resources for (I said 'a bit') - since you don't have to deal with harvesting the various hides needed. Armor will break down due to DB's as well as damage over time, but because their vitality is so high, it can take some time and a good armor repair kit will keep it up and running for a while. A weapon doesn't degrade on death, but specials and just wear and tear go through it rather quickly.

Each have their own - my suggestion is to pick one and pick one fast. As soon as the removal of recursive macros happen, you won't enjoy grinding EITHER of them.

Armour makes more but to be a good AS you need good resources, and that either costs you a hell of a lot of money to get started in the profession "or" you have to spend a lifetime harvesting it all.

Personaly I'd take a look at what you have resource/money wise and go from there, WS is a lot easier (not making any WS friends here then) but AS pays better.

for an example to make 30 suits of comp you need a few factories not just 1, which is hard when your harvesting for yourself too.

layers take i think about 2 days to make 1000, 3 of them go into a segment so straight away your down to 333 segments from a factory run. Then each suit uses about 10 segments which give you a total of 33 suits from your 1000 layer factory run, BUT dont forget you have to take out what you use on making schematics too!!

A lot of people underestimate AS, it is imensly hard and takes a lot of patience and dedication, not to mention time and effort and credits to get started.

I say WS. Much easier to produce weapon than armor. It uses less resources and less headache.

I would also think that it's harder for a 10-point AS to compete against a 12-point AS than it is for a 10-point WS to compete against a 12-point WS. For weaponsmithing, skilltapes don't really matter that much. And, as others have mentioned, it's easier to get resources for WS--everything we use can be obtained from a harvestor of one sort or another.

Four days for stun layers. Two days for just about any full run of segments (I do three runs of 1000 layers at a time, then build the segment from those sets). 21 segments in comp, 17 in Ubese, so about 45 suits of comp from 1000 layers, 50 suits of Ubese (I like to run extra jackets).

Never done weaponsmith, but I can't see it being any easier. Much more variation in product means much more specific resources that need to be stockpiled. Much more dependent on having the absolute best resources to spawn.

If you want to make it to the top of either trade, you're talking about a ton of time and effort. I try to limit my playtime to an hour or two a day, and my demand has been so high lately that all I do now is armorsmithing related tasks. Starting to feel like a second job.

AS uses Organics (Hide etc) that has to be hunted. WS does not.

Organics are evil and if they ever implement that crap into WS I'd cry myself to sleep.

Go WS.
