Been asked about since beta and I've never seen a dev reply to it.
But why do artisans get architect xp?
All 3 crafting lines give gcxp, except for making a harvester. Can anyone explain why, since the devs dont feel like explaiing it?

I assume because its classified under Instalations that thats the reason you get structure xp .... i've got 10k or so of it already and climbing. Guess it will help with a head start once we reach Novice Architect.

But I'm going droid engineering, so when I make a droid battery (from the art line) I should and want droid xp.
When you make cdef weapons you dont get weaponscraft xp.
Bonearmor doesnt give armorcraft xp.
Food doesnt give foodcraft xp.
Clothing doesnt give tailoring xp.
If they dont consider any of these to be valid, why consider harvesters?

So why do harvesters give architect xp?
By the time someone gets novice architect they could have enough structure xp, to buy a skill box. No other crafter gets advanced profession xp.

I think the wind extractor deed gave a little bit of gen crafting xp, plus a lot of architect crafting xp.

I would love for them to change it so that with the gen crafting tool you can earn a little bit of the elite professions craftin xp when you use it. Something like 80 (gen xp)/20(specific xp)- after all you are buildinga lot of weapons and weapon power-ups with it, you should get some weapon xp for it.

They also should put a basic droid and/or some droid componets in there as well - say at Eng 4, so you can build that as well.

Then make the specific crafting tools something like 90(specific xp)/10(gen xp) that way elite professions can still work towards merchants while applying their primary craft.

And while I'm at it, I think the general experimental points should be useful at the elite profession level at something like a 2/1 conversion; i.e. every two gen crafting experimenta point is useful as 1 specific crafting experimental point, so once you get to the elite profession, you have _SOME_ basic ability to experiment with the advanced constructables. That way you could at least make the noivce level items worthwhile and usefull.

We need a dev response to this. Everything in the artisan skill tree is SUPPOSED to get GCXP not structure XP. Stucture does no good to a person not wanting to be an architect. Getting to an advanced profession might not be such a grind if we could just make harvesters for everyone that wants one.

And BTW, Novice Architect takes GCXP, 33,000 in fact, I just got there last night. The only novice slot in in the advanced artisan tree that doesn't is merchant, it takes merchant XP.

Why they do it is pretty obvious to me. Look at how much XP you get for one personal harvester, it's over a 1000 if I recall correctly. If they gave crafting XP instead, everyone would level out all artisan skills by making a few harvesters. So it would provide too much encouragement for grinding. Can't say the same about weapons and otherstuff since they don't offer nearly the same amount of XP.

I suspect, but don't know that some time in early beta, personal harvesters were in architect. But the inability to get large sums of resources made them get pushed into artisan. Thereby leading to the quandary about the large sums of XP they generate.

Nope... Novice Arch takes General Crafting XP to attain.
