Thread: Can someone explain the properties of materials to me please?
This is essentially the deal:
Each material is rated in various traits from 0-1000, with 1000 meaning it's the best.
Take a look at any schematc that you own. In this case, let's use a CDEF Pistol as an example. On the schematic it states that 50% of the quality comes from conductivity and 50% of the quality comes from "Overall Quality" of the resources. The schematic will ignore the rest of the traits, such as Malleability, on the resource you're using. So, you basically want to find a metal with good conductivity and good overall quality.
As you advance up the skill tree, you're going to find more complex schematics. Bone Armor, for instance, looks at Shock Resistance, Overall Quality, Toughness and Malleability (depending on the part and the resource). In cases like these there's going to be some give and take, but you can single out which area you want to experiment in.
You can crank out a better item by using better material, but you really need to experiment at a crafting station to get the most out of your items.
