Thread: Question for Surveoyors...

I am a Master Doc and plan on being a MTKA... this leaves enough points for another novice proffesion and 1 skill box... since I need a variety of inorganic resources I was considering Survey I but was curious as to whether it was worth it or not.
How effective is Survey I? Will it be useful or just a pain in the neck running around hunting for large groups of harvestors or randomly plopping them down and re-deeding looking for a decent concentration?
Any input would be great guys.
I'd say it would be worth it myself. As a doctor your needs are very specific I believe. So when you're on Tattoine and see chemical harvestors, if you have the survey skill you'll be able to tell if they're on the Tat. Fiberplast you need, or on some polymer that you don't. You'll also be able to pull up a test sample to decide if the quality worth harvesting. Also just by opening the right tool on a planet you'll be able to see if a key ingredient like class 4 petro has spawned there.
The only real difference between survey 1 and 4 is that your range won't be as great. That just makes it a little tougher to find the good spots.

The difference between survey 4 and 1 is that you get extra range and a better chance at a successful sample. So basically you get the basic functionality with survey 1 that you need to check resources. I just find it a pain in that you have to hop on and off your vehicle every few metres when you are searching for higher concentrations. If you can spare the points, then I would say since you are a Doc then go with it. It will save you aggro in the long run as I can't imagine getting the stuff you need is going to be much fun if you are running around randomly.

I survey and I personally wouldnot want to go back to the 64 meeter range that Survey 1 offers. Its like trying to be happy with a Marksman 1 skill. No to say that its worthless, just sayin that youll do alot more work in the field.
It's a lot better than 0 range IMHO.
Ok lets see...
77 For Master Medic, 63 For Master Doctor, 63 for Master TKA, 14 for unarmed combat line and 15 for novice brawler =
77 + 63 + 63 + 14 + 15 = 232
hehh, now unless you only have 233 skill points that should leave enough for novice artisan and 1 box 1 skill as he mentioned... ![]()
As for picking up surveying... well personally I would go and pickup novice scout instead...Sure there is nothing wrong with surveying, I don't know what I would do without it... but all you need to do is make some connections and if even one of your friends has surveying IV, then throw him some cash or call in a favour and tell him to go trackdown a waypoint for you...
Whereas when you are a TKM you will be killing lots of stuff and it would honestly be a shame to miss out on all of those hides and especially being a doctor, the meat! ![]()
That is my opinion anyways, it's a lot easier to get a friend to get you a waypoint to a resource than it is to tell him to go hunt meat for you (at least in my experience anyways...)
