I notice some have mentioned selling crates of droid batteries etc... for new MA's to build up some $$$. Here's a really stupid question:
Where do you get the crate from?
Thanks.
(you may now begin to throw barbs at the newb)

Firstly, you need an Equipment Factory. This is a 1 lot structure that requires maintenance and power, and is built by an Architect and has a deed (same as a house / harvester). It burns maint while not in use, but only uses power while it's actually making things.
Secondly, you need to use the Weapon, Droid, General Crafting tool (WDG) to create a manufacturing schematic, while standing next to a WDG crafting station. You make the schematic exactly the same as when you make a real item, except instead of clicking Create Prototype (after experimenting of course), you click Manufacturing Schematic. This will put a schematic in your datapad. It's important to note that the schematic can use ONLY the resources with which it was created (ie the exact same copper, fiberplast, etc). Additionally, the schematic will allow you to make a certain number of items (1 - 1000). If what you want to make takes 10 copper and 16 Fiberplast, after you create the schematic you need 10 of that exact copper and 16 of that exact fiberplast to make 1 item in the factory. It takes 10000 and 16000 of those resources to make 1000. You can do the math from there.
Lastly, the interface on the factory is fairly self-explanitory. In Options on the radial menu, you can load the schematic, place your resources in the input hopper, see exactly what's needed for the schematic if you don't already know, start the factory, and get the finished product from the output hopper.
What you get in the output hopper, is a Factory Crate of whatever you told it to make.
If you run say 1000 EGP's, what you will have when it's done is 40 Crates of EGP's with 25 in each crate. The number of items a crate can hold will vary from item-to-item, and thus so will the number of crates.
Note: While the factory is running, the only option you will get under Options is to stop manufacturing. If you need to get something out of the output hopper but don't want to stop the factory, you can just click on Options itself to open it.
Hope this helps.
