Is anyone else bothered by the increase in the vehicle and droid customization lifespans being increased to 2000 calls from 200? The original number was too low, since no one bothered customizing since it didn't last long enough to be useful. When they increased it to 200 it was a good number cause it lasted long enough to be useful but was short enough that it made a reasonable market for customization kits. In fact I had noticed my sales of vehicle customization kits to be increasing lately asI suspect people were discovering they were actually useful. This new increase to 2000 seems to me to be excessive and will hurt tool sales and vehicles and droids won't need to be customized very often anymore. Everyone I talked to last night, both artisan and non-artisan, agreed. Just wondering how the artisan community felt?

I don't think it will hurt. It is a better product, therefor it will stimulate sales.

I think the extra-long duration might actually help kick-start the customization kit market. Since the paint job lasts an extremely long time, people will at least be picking them up (since they're no longer useless). But I suspect that few people will let the customization go for the full 2000 calls. They'll either get their vehicle destroyed (and after having had some time to get used to the modified look, will likely repaint their new one) or get bored with the modification and change it to something else.
What I'd secretly like to see is for the customization kits to get dropped down to 2-500 calls after a month or so of people getting used to the idea of them.

I agree. I think the 2000 call limit may be a bit extreme in the long run, but for right now it's great in that we can actually charge a decent amount for custom kits and people will buy them. I had someone buy a crate of five 7-charge custom kits last night for 20k. I think the drop down to a 500 limit that sciguy mentioned is a great idea. To me 500 sounds like a good level; at 200 calls my vehicle customization lasted about 15 days so at 500 I would imagine they would last about a month.

I'm not real sure what effect it will have. I know that I'd be lucky to keep a swoop for 2000 calls now that force sensitive types can target your vehicle while you're flying by....not to mention jantas and mokks recentlyseem to have a new found interest in my swoops as well. I decided to go master artisian recentlyso I could make my own crates of swoops. (love the on-demand pups too!) Nothing worse than being in a remote area of dath and having to walk back....well...I'm sure there's something worse, but I hope my point is made.
I've just setup a vendor too....so this is interesting info. I'd just be guessing if it would have a positive or neg impact on sales. Yeah, 2000 calls is a looong time for most...but then as someone else suggested, once people deem them useful again...I can see the desire to get a "new" paint job on occasion, plus what I mentioned above about the increase in mobs attacking vehicles now.
So basically, I have no idea lol

Well, I counted before that with my normal wear and tear on my bike, my two crates of kits would last 5 years.
Now I got enough for 50 years... It cost me 10k too...
I think you get my point.

The same issue exists with droids. We're not happy.
Someone in the DE pointed this out....
If someone calls their vehicle / droid 20 times a day, it would take them 100 days before the paint wore off (assuming they didn't change the colors). For an 8-use kit, that's 400 days at 20x a day if they use 2 charges at a time for both colors. Some people will go through that, most of us won't. At 10x a day, that's 800 days. That's well over 2 YEARS for a single 8-use kit. If you make it a 4 use kit, that's still 400 days at 10x / day, and 200 days at 20x/ day. Some droids only have 1 color, so you can double all those numbers again.
Vehicles or Droids, 2000 calls is WAY outta whack and needs to be reduced. And waiting longer to reduce it won't help the economy any. While there may be an initial rush, the will quickly die down. When it does, VCK's / DCK's will become more and more rare as Artisans / DE's stop making them because they simply don't sell. By the time the number of calls is reduced, they will be so few-and-far-between that those that DO carry them will be able to charge rediculous prices like 10k per charge (perhaps an exaggeration, but perhaps not.... 80k to last over 2 years isn't unreasonable.........). Then we get the glut of them flying out on the market again. Lather-rinse-repeat. That's a downward spiral in economic conditions, as inflation of that proportion is economic suicide.
Just my 2c.

As a masterartisan myself, I was not even painting my own vehicle, because no need to botherwith so less paint draw outs. Now I decided to paint it. At least people will bother to buy "kits"
No swoop last long than 2K calls and people will paint new swoops because they know they will not wear it until they last.

I think the way the paint kits are with 2000 calls is ok I still get bored of the painting every 1 or 2 weeks and even if you are lucky to not get your vehicle destroy by a npc or player the vehicle will not last 1 year with the secret limited vehicle repair path(only way to find out about this secret path is to be a repair freak like me.110 more repairs in my swoop 75 more repairs in my av-21
)

I think themove to 2000 is completely excessive. I just purchased several vehicle customization kits and if it stays at 2000 calls I will never need to buy any ever again. Even if I play the game for five years. Really.
I would really like to know what prompted this change.
