also did I hear something about surveying droids being available? I cant remember

I payed 50 bucks for SWG but when I bought it I had no clue I was paying for the beta...

funny thing is I get charged 15 bucks a month and it's still in beta

Yes and no.

No, you don't get more exp specifically from being on a higher concentration. Yes, the overall exp is higher because you have fewer fails, taking less time thus a higher Exp : Time ratio.

The *is* a macro out there somewhere to do sample, but I don't know where it is or recall how it's setup. I've never used it.

The is also a Survey Droid available from MDE's, but it won't do you any good for the grind. How those droids work, is this:

Open up one of your survey tools. See that list of resources on the right? THAT is what the survey droid does. It e-mails you that list, and nothing more (no %'s, stats, etc)from whatever planet you send it to. It should be noted that Survey Droids are a consumable (they have charges), and each and every time you use a charge, it consumes a survey tool from your inventory (gone forever) for the type of resource you're surveying for. Currently there is no droid or droid module that can find %'s, stats, or actually dig stuff up for you.

Making an offhanded comment about the general state of the way people complain about the game isn't flaming.

Calling someone an idiot is.

By the way, you never mentioned no flaming, maybe you should read your post more carefully next time.

There's no need to resort to personal attacks.

The only way to get survey XP is by hand sampling. Each success gets XP. The more material pulled up per sample, more xp earned. The xp earned will increase as your survey skill increases.

So, go out there and sample! I sampled while crafting, so it didn't seem like work.

open a macro window:

type /sample;/pause 900;/stand;/pause 2;/sit;/pause 60

rinse and repeat

That one would get hung up on the pop-up windows wouldn't it? Or does the standing take care of that? I could have sworn I saw one that used a /defaultbutton; command or something similar to bypass it.

But it's moot for me. I've mastered Artisan twice (2 diff chars) and never used a macro. Did crafting, and healing when with a partner (also camping exp for scout while I had it) at the same time.

Guruweaver said : The more material pulled up per sample, more xp earned. The xp earned will increase as your survey skill increases.

Explain that? becuase if I understand that correctly - then I disagree with that.

here is my results of my last few samples

10 units - 21 xp
5 units - 28 xp
8 units - 36 xp
7 units - 32 xp
9 units - 27 xp
9 units - 28 xp
8 units - 34 xp
10 units - 22 xp

Okay - 10 units 21 or 22 xp??? those looks so random numbers regardless of how many units are pulled up.

Okay, I may have been wrong on that. It's been a while since I ground up the survey line.

I seem to recall seeing more XP when I pulled up bigger samples, but I may be hallucinating. I'll go check.

It's true that *typically* you get more exp for larger samples.... kinda.

You do get more more-often-than-not,*except* when you find a particularly rich sample. Then you get many more units, but far less experience. Kinda backwards IMHO.

At least, this has been my experience (ground up Master Artisan by hand twice).

Hi Mate,

I used this Macro to grind Survey.

/sample;
/pause 3;
/ui action defaultButton;
/sit;
/pause 30;
/stand;
/macro Sample

It is also worth noting that the Pause times can be adjusted to allow yourself to heal fully. ie. mine is set to 35 seconds.

/ui action defaultButton; - this will kill the pop up.
