okay so i want to get into the surveying business.
i wanna know what are some resources that are in demand, by this i mean like what do docs and stuff need that i can supply for them.
Also, should i get atleast survey 4 before i buy some harvestors?
thanks!

Go to SWGCraft.com and look up the schematics that doctors/medics use. On the schematics, take note of which resources are listed. In particular, they are usually interested in the resourcesfor the advanced components.
If you are surveying for yourself, then I recommend getting Survey 4 so that you know where to put your harvesters.

I would also recommend hitting the trade forum for your server. You can get alot of answer there just by watching the different things people auction offand want tobuy and how much they go for. While it's true that you likely won't be able to dig up those exact same resources, you will get a good idea of what types and stats sell.

Good advice in the other replies.
I'd also suggest starting out with just power....radioactive always sells well and you're going to need plenty of it anyway. After you have a number of ber 14 fusion generators running, you might consider steel. The rush to build and buy ships has caused a huge demand for steel....any steel would be good in the near term as many are just trying to grind their way to master shipwright and that takes millions of units of steel.
But like was mentioned above, to get the most valuable resources, you have to get familiar with each professions specifice needs ....which is where swgcraft becomes very helpful.
Important links to look at on swgcraft besieds the profession skill tree/schemtics are "current resources" on your server and "recent changes" which is at the top of the current resources page. These will help you to select what current resources are the most harvest worthy...aka...best return on yourtime.

In addition, when you look at schematics to see what resources are required, also look at which stats are important for those resources. For instance, most of the medical resources use the stats of OQ and PE for their experimentation points. One method of pricing would be to base the price upon those stats. Usually the dependence is 66% OQ and 33% PE. If you consider 10 cpu to be the top price for medical resources, you could use a formula like this:
( ( OQ + OQ + PE ) / 3 ) / 100
So, if OQ is 900, and PE is 810, it would become:
( ( 900 + 900 + 810 ) / 3 ) / 100 = ( ( 2610 ) / 3 ) / 100 = 870 / 100 = 8.7 cpu
If you consider 5 cpu to be the top price you would charge, then
( ( OQ + OQ + PE ) / 3 ) / 200
( ( 900 + 900 + 810 ) / 3 ) / 200 = ( ( 2610 ) / 3 ) / 200 = 870 / 200 = 4.35 cpu
