A so called twelve point artisan is an artisan who has gathered up enough skilltapes to increase their amount of experimentation points to twelve, thus "12 point". For humans this means an amount of +5 to artisan experimentation required, for all other species +20. Not that humans can go over 12 points up to a max of 14 points, for that they require +25 artisan experimentation, on top of having all the artisan experimentation from the artisan skill tree.

Thank You for the quick reply.
When I've made my fortune, I'll start looking round for skilltapes

If you are human and master artisan, you have 12 experimentation points.

Actually I'm Zabrak
Was hoping to change to Ithorian with JTL , but they wont allow that!!
I had heard that there was a one-time chance when you install JTL to swap to one of the new races, but its NOT true.

Human MA with no skill tapes has 11 experimentation points.

Let me just wish you good luck with artisan, and may many powerful power-ups be crafted by thine hands

Skill tapes are loot drops that come most often from NPCs. I've heard of creatures such as rancors dropping them as well, but this is very rare. The borgle bat cave also used to be a good place to get skill enhancing attachments, but because of over camping of the cave they decreased the number of times the tapes spawn in each day. The caves are still very heavily camped by people who have a character constantly logged out in the cave and know exactly when the tape will spawn; they log in, loot the tape and then log out.
The cost of the tapes really depends on your server and the number of points the tape gives. Generally for a good +5 tape you should expect to pay at least a couple million.
Hope that helps! Good luck!

A 12 point artisan is rather useless acually, as the only things that the extra points acually do anything on is 1 bone armor, and 2food
Bone armor the extra points bascialy add to durra and that is pretty useless anyway, the difference in 2 points is about 500 or soo durra, and thats stretch. I have dumped 4 points into durra and skimmped on the main resist just to try to get the durra up and used all 850-950+ decay, tough, shock resources and was very dissapointed with the result. I think it went from 9.8k - 11.2k just over a 1k durra with a 35 % difference in final outcome, and that was using Geo bone segs which have a higher durra than even the normal armorer made advanced bone seg. as it can take 2 layers. giving it a +30% boost
The food, the extra points help a bit more but seeing all the artisan food is Chef light and you can basically get better by going with the chef stuff. i have found the artisan food bascially useless, except for jawa beer and travel biscuts. They are the only one chefs cant make.
tietler noodles are oky for dancers but vs the cost effective of a 6 use noodle stacked to get you about +450 stamina which is a entire single count of a noodle to get you 40 mins of stamina,, or you can use a singel bottle and get20+ use bottle of accrogram the drink is the way to go, BAsically you could need an entire crate of noodles to eqaull that of just one bottle of accrogram.. one bottle goes for about 5-8k depending,, and a crate of any lt bio food would go for 50-75k why would you even think of going the other way. I guess if you can get the lt bio tissue dirt cheap,, or skip it all together and sell um for maybe 10k a crate.. but even then the 5k bottle will win every time.
Crispic can be a quick aim fix but citrus snow works much better. At first i was exicted about all the new chef foods but after playing with them, and the chef stuff i realize it was basically a bunch of fluff and very little substance.
If anyone can tell me that they have a thriving artisan food bussiness i would really like to know.. Ive had that stuff on my vendor for months now and nothing sold cept maybe once a month,, i even had the stuff dirt cheap,.,. 50 credits per item, heck between the bio-filling and resources used im selling stuff for .33 cpu and they still didnt sell,, i finally dumped the stuff and it sold at 1 credit.. woot 100+ 1 credit sales,.,. im rich now /grin
basically dont bother wasting your money on the tapes unless you are really into bone armor and are using armorer made segs.. there is not one reason why if your making bone you shouldnt find an armorer to make you a schem to run your own segs. Just get rori bone and kamaris iron. Even total crap bone will come out better than the best non advanced parts. Even then you would have to sell a lot of bone armor to justicfy paying the millions of credits people want for any exp tape. lets see even at 10k a suit thats what one thousands suit to make the normal 10 million for +10 points,, Ohh wait thats not profit,, see what im getting at?if someone wants to give you a tape, or you can pick um up for 5-25k credits sure grab it,, why not what are you gonna spend your money on anyway? more shuttles /grin
