I was wondering who if anyone is trying to only be a true Artisan or trying to pick up alot of fighting skills along the way. Like a Master Rifleman and a Master weaponsmith. Or Are you all going for Master weapons armor and alittle Droid without any fighting abilities. I like making weapons for people but I would like to try out the weapons I make and see how good they really are.

Another question is do you think they will give more XP points in the future so you can keep your current skills and learn something new. I hate giving up stuff I worked so hard for to go another way.

I started as a Trandorsan. Was going to be a Merchant / DE / TKA. I did start with scout, brawler, medic, artisan, & entertainer. (lots of fun and abilities those all provide)

Along the way I got bored with unarmed (got a 4 boxes though) decided, for me, that merchants suck big time & decided I wanted factories. I also thought I wanted to sell spice, so I got all the 4 boxes of pistol and novice smuggler.

So now I'm
- architech (gonna rise in the factory line only)
- smuggler (gonna rise in the spice and slice lines, maybe the faction one not much into that right now though)
- I've got oganics IV so I can make basic mediciens
- got bits in scout so I get decent hides/bones, run fast up hill, and have burst run efficiency
- gonna fill out DE or whatever get to make vehicles, if anything, but no hurry as one is broke and other doesn't exist.

I will proly change my mind along the way as well. But I'm not really into getting 'master' in any profession. I've just picked out the parts I want, dabbler in many master of none. Great xp/profession system SWG has.

I don't ever expect to win toe 2 toe in pvp, but I can't protect my self from nasties out in the field, and get some cash/loot/fun for when i'm bored with crafting/selling.

I'm going to be a master fencer with some artisian/chef experience...But that's only so I can make booze. Heheheh. And if I like it enough maybe I'll get into food too. But basically my first priority is being able to fight, my second is making booze, and my third is working on more games for the casino. Then alot of people willhate me for making a living off of sitting on my ass instead of hacking **edit** up or gathering ore all day. Heheheh

I have artisan/medic/enterainer/marksmen. I have pistol and ranged support, but I"m not a fighter. I only fight if I have to or something is going on. Mostly I craft and chat and hang out in the cities.

I started with Artesan, but realized that those places to put harvesters are pretty dangerous, so ended up a master artesan, novice carboneer and along the way ended up with novice CH, BE, Chef, merchant, tailor and some pretty decent scout and medic skills..... Where can I buy more skill points?

I like crafting but I also like fighting. So I do both. I do craft more but I am a pistol specialist and once I master tailor I'm going to put more into pistoleering. I'm having fun, so that's all that matters to me.

I really enjoy the artisan, lotsa fun! As far as fighting goes, I prefer the polearm, does alot of damage, and makes for a different look, I would suggest, using the weapons you make, add powerups, you'll be suprised at what your making!

I've always felt that it's better to not doing something at all then to do it halfway. Thus, I don't have any combat skills at all, and instead focus on my crafting. When I get into dangerous areas I walk around them, or through them with /burst.

The beautiful thing about this game though is you aren't gimping yourself by "going half way" because unless you are shooting for a hybrid class like BH you are given the option to master different skill trees.

Originally, I had planned to get Master Artisan, Master Weaponsmith, Master Droid Engineer. After realizing that droid engineer was for the most part broken, I decided to take those points and dump them into a combat tree to achieve master there for variety's sake. I opted for pistoleer.

I'm still a fledgling gunfighter at this point, but my friends who are pursuing BH, TKA, Riflemen and Fencerwere surprised when I decided to drop the crafting grind and run with them on some missions. Initially they were piping up with the standard "don't go running around like an idiot, you're a gimp crafter so don't expect us to save you when ya pull all kinds of aggro", when they realized that this "gimp crafter" was doing some impressive damage that shut them up pretty quick.

The important thing to note is that SWG really gives you a chance to try out some different lines to create a character with some variety. You can give the combat thing a chance and you can always back out of it if you choose later on, or even back out of crafting if you decide you enjoy blasting stuff.
