Thread: first try at harvesting, expensive failure
i'm bored with the game so i figured i'd try harvesting/farming. i've got eng 4 and survey 3. bought a micro flora farm for 1500cr (didn't want to waste resources building it myself). 1000 units of wind power for 2500cr. found a spot, placed the harvester, put in 1500 maintenance fees. turned it on. it was running at 64% efficiency. go to bed.
wake up next morning and check my farm. it's off. wondered why it was off. check the hopper and there's 423 units of domesticated oats in there. not bad i guess. figured i'd turn it back on and let it run while i'm at work. won't turn on because the resource has been depleted. guessed that i had exhausted that spot so i went to survey for those domesticated oats i was farming. that resource is no longer available. great. the first time i farm/harvest and a resource shift gets me.
now thefarm is there with about 1000cr of maintenance, and 750 wind power left and nothing good to farm.
i could have spent an hour or so sampling and gotten that much oats and not spent a dime. i could have spent 2000-3000 credits on the bazaar and gotten 500-1000 of those oats. lucky me i'm going to end up spending 6000-8000 credits for 423 domesticated oats and a flora farm.
maybe i'll just be bored silly sampling from now on.
Why don't you just move it to something else? You can re-deed it with 1500 credits in maintanence .. and since the last patch you won't lose your power you invested in it.
It really is cheaper to build your own Personal Harvesters though, doesn't use that many resources.
