if you want a constant need item ... find the best ore you can and mine the crap out of it... Archetects (sp) will always buy it... with one heavy you can pull maybe 20k perday if you are on a good spot..

just my 2 cents worth

You may want to run more than 2 make money.

Steel is a good seller too. Most common item used for grinding, along with fiberplast and inert petro.

I find that Steel and Copper sell the fastest from my shop for minerals. I find Fiberplast to sell the fastest for chemicals. I sell at about 2 credits per unit.

if you find a good spot and high PE Radioactive ... mine it... if it is over 900 PE you can get 5-8cpu for it if you hold on to it for a bit. if not more...

The biggest medic need is Lokian Wild Wheat and Tatooinian FIberplast. These are always available and you should be able to sell at 3 cpu, even during bad shifts.

We have one dedicated Lokian Wild Wheat vendor on Scylla who sells for 2.75 to 3 cpu and they can't keep up with demand. So if you are looking to mine 1 or 2 materials, are willing to move your harvester when necessary, but don't want to switch frequently, this may be your answer.

If you are pressed for time and don't move your harvs, just harv the best 'acceptable' quality resource at the highest concentration at your harv spot. As long as it does not have a lot of attributes below 500, it will likely sell fine on the bazaar.

Most any metal will sell. Stick with the main metal types and gemstone and ore. Most flora sells quite well with any veggie/grain and all wood types.

Architects look for UT and DR for furniture and city items. Artisans look for varying stats for varying items, but OQ and Conductivity are generally in the mix. Think weapon/armorsmiths look for CR and HR, but I could be wrong there.

My mch now mostly does this, with six harvs permantly planted around her two-house compound. Every one or two days, I log her in and check the shifts, set new resources, yank from hoppers, add any maint/power needed (I keep these at 15 days or more always, in RL gets nasty), and go to the bazaar and sell 25 stacks at 3k each. Stack size changes to meet 3-6cpu prices at which I sell. Pretty much makes 75k a day with her for about 10-15 mins work.

Added benefit is that many days I log in to find dark troopers surrounding my HQ and they get to meet a couple of war-hardened, meanazz pets, stopping shot and phat heals!

I mine steel. And I just started like two weeks ago. I was always broke and couldn't afford to even keep my vender with out going on combat missions all day. But then I started selling little bits of my steel and copper(That I was trying to use to build vehicles) and the BAM. I parcel it out into sections just slightly larger than what ever else is on the bazaar for a similar metal and it all sells, everyday.

I don't know what server you are on, but it really depends on how much the market value for resources are.

For example, if steel sells for 3cpu and ore sells for 3cpu, go for steel. Steel usually get higher concentration compared to ore. The higher the concentration, the more resources you will get.

If steel sells for 2cpu and ore sells for 4cpu, look at the concentrations of the 2 resources and compare them. The ratio here is 2:1. If the steel is 90% and ore is 40%, get the steel. If steel is 80% and ore is 50%, get the ore.

If you plan to do this a long time, and would like to sell directly to customers, I would suggest trying to stick to one type of resource. Like the above poster said about the guy with the Lokian Wheat... If you specialize, you will never run out of repeat and referral customers.

If you are going to sell to resellers a.k.a. becoming a supplier (which is what I would suggest doing first), then just get anything the reseller will buy. When starting out, selling to resellersat a lower price will be much better for you because it's a guaranteed instant sale. You might be able to sell something for3 cpu in front of a starport somewhere in 1 hour, but you might as well sell to a reseller at2.5 cpu and get on with your life.

Stick with ferrous and non-ferrous metals (iron, steel, copper, alum) and ore for the Mineral Harvester and don't go for petro fuels unless you know what you're getting (like good quality class 3solid for weaponsmiths). Gems will also sell good since holo-architects need it to grind statues but the demand is a bit lower compared to the above metals.

For the Chemical Harvester, I would suggest Tatooine Fiberplast, since it is both a normal fiberplast many need and also a SPECIFIC fiberplast that certain professions need. Also Lub Oils sell pretty good to architects, but not as well comparedto Fiberplast.

You can mine anything really. Generating your own power, your end cost is usually well under 1c/u. Sell the junk for 1, sell the average stuff for 3, sell the good stuff for 5, and sit on the uber stuff and unload it on some body for 15-30c/u when it becomes rare.

If you are mining for profit, find out what specific named resources are needed for the various advanced crafting professions and what stats are important for them to have, and whenone of the rare spawns shows up mine the heck out of it if it is decent.

For example, Armorsmith routinely need Kiirium and Neutronium Steel, Polysteel and Beryllius Copper, Axidite and Colat Iron and many others. All advanced professions have these needed resources and many will pay top credit for good stats on them, especially if it has been a while since the last time it spawned.

The main news page has a number of websites with information on each schematic, including the needed, named resources to allow you to compile a list of things to look for.
