Thread: Do the properties of a resource ever change?
Just trying to understand how resources work.
If for example we take Naff-Iron-ium (apretend member of the Doonium Iron family) with Conductivity 3 and OQ 2. Will every deposit of Naff-Iron-ium have these characteristics? Or is it possible that 3 months from now I'll find some with Conductivity 1000 and OQ 1000?
I'm currious because to make a decent high end weapon you have to have some pretty **edit** specific materials. So far all the Doonium variations I have found don't have characteristics required to make a decent spoon let alone a uber weapon
Can anyone help here?
I thought it was a case where the stats and the name of the resource are locked together so that when that named resource respawns, it will be the same as last time.
Varish,
The properties do seem to change with each spawning/planet. But it might be a while until something respawns.
So in theory I could do some draft schematics (for +100% damage rifles)that are based on uber materials, then a few weeks later churn out those same +100% rifles using the same schematic butwith rubbish quality versions of the resources?
In some ways I think I would be happier if the resource characteristics represented the pure resource, so Naff-Iron-ium is always rubbish. But then how will I ever createthe ultimateLaser Carbine?
Another question on resources here....
Do all deposits of a certain resoruce on a planet have the same statistics? If, for example, I find copper near Mos Eisley that has crummy Shock Resistance can I find another concentration of the same copper near Mos Entha that has better shock resistence? Or will it always be the same? My guess is it will always be the same.
For a specific typeof resource, like Polysteel Copper, you still havedifferent types of Polysteel Copper, and the names are always randomly generated and unique. The names look like typical scientific names, like Cartosadine, but they're just made from a name generator (just like when you first make a character). I don't believea name can ever be repeated once it shifts away.
Certain resources tend to have ranges for each attribute, like Hard Wood typically has more shock resist than Soft Wood, and Copper tends to have high conductivity. However, if youfind aresource spot for"Cartosadine" copper, it will have the same exact attributes as any other resource spot for "Cartosadine" copper, no matter where you look. You may, however, find a different copper such as "Beetloginite" that has different shock resistance.
