I'm still pretty much a newbie too, (only been playing about 3 or 4 weeks), and I've managed to make enough money to buy most of what I want or need by doing artisan craftingmissions. You can earn anywhere from 700 to 1400 credits per crafting mission. If you get two missions, and do shuttle runs back and forth between two cities (Moenia to Deja Peaks on Naboo or Bestine to Anchorhead on Tatooine are my favorites), you can quickly make enough to start buying power generators and whatever else you want. Plus, you get decent crafting XP in the process.

Seems imposible at first but we all started there. Since you are already an artisan you can start with crafting missions that start and end in your current city. this gets you enough money to travel. Pick up 2 crafting missions to the same city. Bestine to Anchorhead and vice versa pay 900ish per mission, thats 1800 per trip. That's your seed money for small scale harvesting. It's slow going at first but it gives you time to learn the ropes and decide what direction you'll go as an artisan.

I've I've only been playing the game for a couple days. I have survey 2 and Engineering 1. I'm asking how does a novice character (played by a novice player) gain money and experience quickly? It sucks not being able to craft anything that's particularly worth buying. Bought a personal harvester, though I didn't realize at the time that it required a power source (newbie mistake).

So what's a good way for me to earn XP and credits quickly?

The path of a newbie is an ardous one. especially now with so many master professions out there. there are people out there that will help make this path easier to bear. anyone who has played this game has been where you are. you are fortunate because people are richer now since the launch. a handout is easier to get. i know i've had my fair share of handouts i have also given my fair share of handouts. to these people i am deeply thankful.

depending on your profession, all i can suggest is if you need money there are missions to do. if you need combat xp there are groups going out all the time.

this path, this way in the world is yours to carve, you ultimatley choose your own path. there is now right or wrong path, just merely different consequences for actions taken.

farewell and good journey.

You can always find a good high % metal location, harvest that and while there wheneveryou have enough craft surveyor tools.
