I've only been playing Star-Wars Galaxies for a few weeks, and I really find some of the 'help' here... annoying to say the least. First of all, alot of the advice is over simplified. The most recent example I was reading was someone's '"get rich quick" scheme. Something to the tune of... "First go out and buy 5 fusion generators. These should cost around 50k each, then get a deep crust extractor and a large-harvesters." I read that and was like hmm... I'm having trouble getting like 100 minerals, let alone 100 credits.
So I disregarded that and went off to find my own way.
I realized that most anything you can make as a novice artisan is either mass-produced cheaper by the more experienced, or just not wanted. I've sold nothing in nearly a week, and have one of everything in my backpack made with O-K resources. Which isn't really an issue I guess, since I wouldn't want to buy crap either, just that this hasn't helped me make any money either.
After a bitI discovered artisan-surveying missions from the Artisan Terminals. These seem to be a great way to get money in my opinion. Each time I'm in town I grab two 'metal' missions, and then jet off (i.e. walk) to my 'waypoint' destination. I've discovered a few 90-100 resource spots for metal in my area that are a good enough distance away that I can satisfy both missions in a single click of my survey device at my waypoint.
The missions only run about 800-900 a piece from what I can tell, and have been looking for a way to get more expensive missions, but for something I was going too anyways thats a good 1800 credits for literally nothing.
So if I even go to my sampling location 3 times a day, thats like 5400 credits.
This has been a good way to afford minerals that has allowed me to get up to Engineering 4, while the sampling has me at at Surevying 4. the others are at 3 and 2.
There you have it. If your new like me and looking for a good way to get money doing what you'd be doing anyways, Artisan Terminals are the way. They are located in most busy locations.
For Mos Eisley its just to the right of the Start-Port Entrance.
Good luck.

Hi Yapazari,
I always advise new Artisans to take the crafting missions between Tyrena and Vreni Island (in Corellia) for good cash. Each 2 mission trip pays ~2.5k, including round-trip shuttle fare (each mission is ~1.3k). At the same time, you gain some crafting XP from making the mission items. The Tyrena Artisan terminal is very close to Shuttleport A (right next to the Starport) and if you get the missions that start off <100m it's quite convenient.
And, you can get the Vreni Island Theater badge while you're at it.
If you get tired of surveying missions you can try this as an alternative. When the shuttle wait time was 10 minutes, I got up to Survey 4 by surveying/sampling metal waiting for my ride.
Good luck,
-D

yapazari,
although it doesn't really make much sense, the amount of money offered on the survey missions is tied to your combat skills. they pay higher if you hold your highest skill level weapon equipped.
of course that means if you have no combat skills you are stuck at the lower pay rates
the assemble and deliver missions hint above is a good one though.

Yup, the 'Tyrena-Vreni Island Crafting Run' was my first cash cow. Whenever I missed the shuttles I would sample while crafting for a double-grind. This kept my personal harvesters running until i was able to make sellable(2k)weapons. And you'll neber have to look for a spot when the resources despawn/respawn. Incidentally, the better take on the surveying missions is to find the high-percentage resources near shuttleports, then just shuttle back and forth doing survey missions each way

I did the Tyrena to Vreni Island missions as well. The first time, I actually swam to Vreni coz I didnt know how the shuttles worked
I had to put a weight on the up arrow coz my finger got sore after a little while. Usually, the Coronet shuttleport has decent 80%ish resources around it. Those 10 minute shuttle wait was worth it in those days.

Also Good runs are:
Naboo- Moenia>Deeja Peak
Tatooine- Anchorhead>Bestine (or Anchorhead> Mos Eisley with a better weapon)

Yapazari, congratulations on your initiative to go out and make your own success! Most new players these days seem to have an expectation of instant riches. Kudos to you and good luck!

As someone whos only been playing for a couple of weeks now, the best way I've found to bring in the credits is to sell your resources on the bazaar. Find a good resource pocket close to a town then leave it macro'ing over night which should net you around 3-5k units. I then sell them on for between 2 - 2.5 creds per unit. After a couple of days you should have enough to start investing in some harvesters to up your output (likewise master survey very quickly) at which stage you should be pretty self sufficient. After a week or so I reached the stage where I could extract enough resources to sell on to cover maintanence costs and still retain a healthy amount to then later use to master artisan.

Try selling 10-sided dice sets name "Pazaak Deck (10-sided dice)" and sell them for 1K along with instructions on playing Pazaak from http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=role_playing&message.id=15836
It's my favorite Novice Artisan item.
Of course, later on you should be able to buy an Equipment Factory and sell crates of damage boosting weapon power-ups.

I've just come upon an additional technique to speed up the surveying missions. Find two cities that are very close to each other (1200m away or so), go to an artisan terminal and start immediately searching for a resouce that meets the 70% metal critera as close to that terminal as possible and make a waypoint. As soon as you do, go to the artisan terminal and grab 2 900cr metal missions.
Then fly to the other city and do the same thing again. Now you just fly back and forth between the two artisan terminals/waypoints and each trip nets you 1800cr. That's 1800cr about every 3 minutes if you have a swoop.

OR you can master an uber combat template, get buffed and go solo a 25k mission in approximately 30minutes (high estimate, you could literally complete a 25-30k mission in 15 mins if youre lucky).
SO, you could potentially make 50-60k an hour for the 3 hour buff duration.
3 x 60k = 180k - 10k for the buffs equals 170k in 3 hours.
And hence, we are back to square one in regards to this Fooked up economy we call Star Wars Galaxy.
(this folks, is why I charge 35,000 credits for a swoop, Doc's charge 10k for something that lasts 3 hours, some people are charging 10k for a swoop that lasts 3 MONTHS! (or longer
))
I'm gonna start charging 10k for a crate of chance cubes, that's it!

but remember, if your item that you make for a mission ends up to be less than a great success, you dont get paid, at least that is what i have found. And its either great success or success, im not sure.
