I got this mission from an Artisan Mission terminal. I have to find "A rich source of ore" of efficiency 68, and report it to the mission giver.

1) What's efficiency mean in this context? I can't find this when I examine the ore - is it a rating of something?

2) Does "Ore" imply that I have to find ANY ore for this guy, or is there something I'm missing? Is he looking for a specific ore?

3) how will I know when I find a source rich enough to tell this guy about?

Thanks,

You're looking for a 68% concentration of any kind of ore.

This is the number shown in your survey tool.

When you find a concentration that is high enough, you'll see a big 68% in your survey tool.

Keep in mind that there are distance requirements and I think you have to find it at least 1km away (if memory serves)from the mission giver too.

Oh! Well why the heck didn't they say "concentration?" I can do that...

How do I know how far away I am from the mission giver? Just keep an eye on my radar coordinates?

Thanks a ton,

Because that would make too much sense.
You haven't been playing this game very long, have you?

Actually, it's more closely related to the efficiency of a harvester placed on that spot.
A harvester with a BER of 4 would pull at a rate of 2.72 (68% of maximum) units of material per minute.

If you get a waypoint for the mission giver, great... just watch the waypoint monitor.
If you didn't, target the giver (terminal or npc) and type /waypoint

That will set one for you (you'll have to manually delete it from your datapad later), and then just walk about 1km (possibly 1024m?) away from it and start sampling.

I haven't done one of these since way back when they put the terminals in the game, so some of the info may have changed.

If you don't have it on, turn on Waypoint Monitor in Options, like Elyssa mentioned. You'll need it later when you have harvesters all over the place hehe

For survey missions I usually do them "backwards", go find a concentration of whatever 70% or higher that is far enough from your chosen mission terminal, and then bike back and forth picking up 2 at a time of the same high $ mission. (Refresh mission terminal to get more choices til you see what you know of)
