Thread: Weekly Update 7-31-03
Good Morning,
I recieved an email from SOE this morning about the weekly updates. It has been requested that a new list not be sent in until we have recieved a response on the old one. Therefore there will be no weekly email for this week.
However we should be hearing back a response on last week's email soon. With the new patch on the Test server and being pushed to the live servers soon the Devs are busy and so a little behind. Please be patient as the correspondent program gets started and the lines of communcation get set up.
Here is a quote from the email about what happens to the issues we send in:
We have collected all of your issues and put them in a bullet point
list. We then have 3 separate meetings (crafting, combat, other) with all
the designers to go over the bullet points. We refer to your email for
clarification and suggestions. I take some notes to send back your way for
you to take back to the community.
Ive been taking notes so that way when we are ready for the next email we can have everything ready. Please continue to bring up issues and post your views as they are very important.
As usual, the devs are a little behind, but I've come to expect that over the years of following the game. Best I can do is help out where I can and when I can . . . and continue to wait for the game to improve.
I figure beta should be over by December . . . but I'll continue to have fun until then anyway!
People, lets show a little faith in SOE/Lucasarts. Programming/testing/debugging an application of this size requires almost incomprehensible energy. I think it is awesome what Blackman, O'Hara, and their amazing team have done. We truly have an incredibly detailed, fully interactive world which is so immersive that you sometimes have trouble distinguishing your character's life with your own, real one. The graphics are astounding, so much better than the other games on the market (Sorry, Everquest and UO), the skills system completely logical and well though-out, and on top of it all, it's even scored!
Is it perfect? Not close. However, I have anticipatingthis game for over 18 months, and it has truly exceeded every expectation I had for it. There are bugs in resource shifting, commerce, missions, and even in the xp system, but this is a game in its infancy, little more than a month old.
I am having a fabulous time playing, and even though I am finding it frustrating getting to eng iv, I know that onece I do, it will make it that much more meaningful. Anything meaningful obtained has to be earned.
I am really getting tired of all this SWG bashing, both in game and out. If you despise it that much, either quit, or keep it to yourself. Don't spread your ill-founded misery on the majority of us having the time of our lives!
Thanks.
You'll never get people to not complain, no matter how 'good' it is.
Whether they like it or not one thing SOE is selling is a place/thing for whiners to bitch about.
I have to agree. The whole SOE team that is involved with this game deserves commending. I cannot imagine the amount of work that has to be put into developement. Just playing is a painstaking process.
Two Thumbs up from me!!![]()
