I know if will be different from server to server, but the only crafting i have done is Lightsabers, and my top notch resourses i use for that seem to have less than impressive results. If anyone can give me any tips i would be grateful.

Get the highest SR Steel and Aluminum you can find.

Copper instead of aluminum is also non-ferrous and will work well. And so will Iron for ferrous metal.

SR (shock resistance) is the stat thats important. Below is types of resources you can use... pick any one resourcefrom non-ferrous and ferrous.


Non-Ferrous

Copper

Aluminum


Ferrous

Steel

Iron
