I know you need Non-Ferrous and Ferrous metals to make swoops, however im not sure on what stats to aim for. I've heard that SR is the only stat that matters in swoop making, so what number is good to aim for? I've been told that 800-900 SR is way too good to be used for making swoops, so would 500 SR be able to make a decent swoop? Thanks.

You can make a 'decent' swoop out of junk resources. The resource quality affects the number of hit points the swoop has, but does not affect the vehicle's speed or handling. Whether it's worth having the extra hit points is debatable. Yes, maybe the high hit point swoop takes the nightsisters two shots to disableinstead of one, but who wants to drive their most valuable vehicle on dathomir in the first place, and risk losing the whole thing. On eclipse, sellers are packaging 5 swoops in a crate for 100 K. I suspect the most likelybuyers are adventurers or bounty hunters who routinely lose vehicles to creaturesor targets.

Open your datapad (Ctrl-D), select "Draft Schematics" Tab, scroll down to Swoops. It'll have all the info you need!

Well, dont know if it helps ya, but personally I make two different sets of swoops. I am Master WS/Master Artisan. The first set of swoops I make, I dont make too many of, and I use old resources that have SR over 900. This mostly happens when I harvest up something better than what I was using before or find that I have more say Kammris Iron than I need over 900. THe other type of swoop that I make is what I label as a 'disposable swoop'. These I make for players traveling Dath etc, and I use metals with SR below 900. I usually wont use anything lower than around 500-600 though.

Swoops making is a high volume business now a days. Pre-CU some customers were picky about getting swoops made with good recourses, however now that NPC attack bikes and kill them in 1 hit, customers don’t care about quality, bikes are deposable.

If you have time to find resources with 900+ SR grate, however I just drop my harvesters on the 1st 85% spot of metal I find.

Swoops are going to get one-shotted pretty much every time. Besides, even if you could get two shots in on a swoop, chances are that the second blow is going to come about a second after the first. Use junk resources, it's not like anyone would actually notice the difference in the vehicle.

This is interesting to me, both as a new artisan, and as a swoop user.

My feeling about a swoop is that it should last a while. I rarely get one killed in combat, as I store it when I get within about 100m of my target, but occasionally, one gets surprised.

However, a higher quality swoop lasts longer before I need to repair it. I have had lower quality (i.e. 80 or 90%) swoops that I am just constantly repairing. I find that irritating, so I always look for 97 to 98%.

So, there is a market for the higher ones, albeit a small one, maybe only one guy in size.

Heh. Yes, in retrospect, my post was a little bit absolute.

I should clarify - I constantly repair them because I hate having a HAM bar that is too low. It is just aesthetically displeasing to me, so I repair a lot. And, I am frequently in the middle of nowehere.

But you all make valid points, and I think I will use the same strategy. Something has got to pay for my DE grind! lol

if the swoop is under 95% the decay rate is insane.

my first swoop i made was like a 47% by time i made it to village on my main toon it was all but destroyed and ididnt agro a thing on the way there

the hight the sr (shock resist) the better % when you experiment it will be

i use steel 950 sr and higher and copper 950 and higher and regularly make 96% to 98%

I have been looking around alot regarding swoop quality (as I myself am a new Master Artisan), and to be honest I think you would be hard pressed to notice a big difference between a 97% swoop and a 90% swoop. The actual difference is probably about 100 hitpoints (out of 2500 possible). The decay rates and repair costs would be very close to the same. Any difference you are seeing is probably mostly just your imagination...I don't mean this as a flame, because I have done the same myself, and I think that many players think this is the case.

In fact, for practical use, the lower quality swoops seem to make more sense. They are far cheaper to produce, and yet they seem to decay at the same actual rate and cost the same to repair. They will get one-shot just like a top quality swoop. The only appreciable difference seems to be that you will have to find a parking garage to repair it a little more frequently, but unless you are always out in the middle of nowhere than I wouldn't think that would be a problem for most people.

The reason a higher quality lasts longer when it comes to decay is because the higher quality have a higher ham... they all decay at the same rate.. it's just on the lesser quality ones, it shows up faster as they have less ham to begin with.

For most people, swoops are disposable transportation.. they don't care, the cheaper the better really. I make 90% + vehicles, and in all honest rarely sell them...because I have to keep my prices kind of high to justify using the quality of resources they require. But I am now mining whatever I can get in mass in order to make runs of disposable swoops as someone else mentioned. I'll carry both most likely..but expect the disposables to sell out way more than my quality ones do. Time will tell how it works.. because it's a heck ofa lot easier to get lower quality resources than higher heh
