Thread: Mounted Surveying Macro

With the release of vehicles it makes surveying much faster. You can travel much farther afield with reduced risk. But how do you survey while mounted? Here is a macro that should help. There are a couple of conditions that are required which I will include at the end. But here is the macro.

/dismount; /pause 1; /survey; /pause 1; /mount

That's the macro. Quick and easy. But here are the conditions for it to work correctly. Prior to mounting the vehicle the first time open your survey tool and pick which resource you want to survey with. Do not close the survey window completely down. You can hid it but if it's closed the macro won't work.

Right before you use the macro turn off auto-run. I have mine keyed to the thumb button on my mouse. I just hit it to stop the auto-run. As the vehicle is slowing you can then hit the survey macro. Once the macro is complete and you are mounted again, you can hit it again and be on your way.

Thirdly. You must keep your mount targeted. This is so the macro will re-mount you at the end.

This works the majority of the time. However there are some warping issues when you dismount that sometimes will put you farther from your vehicle and you will get a message that you are not close enough to mount. This happens about 5% of the time or less. The main factor in this is your speed when you activated the macro. The slower you are going after you turn off the auto-run the less the chance of this happening.

If you want you can put in a /pause 2 or something similar in the begining of the macro to help reduce the speed further before you dismount.

Well there is a quick and easy mounted survey macro. I've found it useful for doing quick survey runs while minimizing the chance of getting attacked.

I've had a similar macro for a while- I don't seem to need to keep the survey window open at all- it just always surveys the last resource. I also mapped the /mount and /dismount keys to the two function keys right next to the macro- that way I can mount and dismount if there's problems without radial menuing the vehicles.

Correct. Though since you can't open a survey device while mounted, if it's closed you won't be able to see the concentration levels. Which is why I keep it open.

Try this. While it is open, click [alt] so that you change to the alternate view. Your survey device screen will be hidden. Then when you want to survey, simply hit [alt] again and your macro, your device appears and you survey. When you're done you can hide it again and continue.

I do this so that I can drive without anything blocking my view of the road. =)

Also, you can add "/target speederbike swoop; /pause 1; /mount" to your macro and you won't have to have your vehicle selected to mount it.
